Stoppard’s erudition about classical poetry in this play is astounding and somewhat daunting, but in the voice of Simon Russell Beale Stoppard’s language becomes poetry itself. The scenes with the young and old Housman are ingenious and poignant. A challenging and rewarding play and production.
