Timothy Zahn is heading to the final frontier for a new Star Trek mystery, with IDW Publishing announcing Star Trek: Roc’s Egg, an original graphic novel set aboard Deep Space Nine. Sony appears to be taking another step back from the virtual reality market, with the company transferring hundreds of patents covering AR, VR and XR technology to Meta. The transfers were first reported by ZDNet Korea and subsequently detailed by Road to VR, with records showing that 43 US patents changed hands between June and September 2026. A broader agreement reportedly covers 419 patents globally, including 180 from the United States and another 239 from other territories.

Nintendo fans in Toronto are getting a new place to celebrate their favourite games and characters, as EB Games Canada has announced that its flagship Yonge Street location will soon be home to a dedicated Nintendo retail space. More notably, the new space will mark Nintendo’s first-ever store-within-a-store in North America. Located inside the EB Games at 267 Yonge Street in Toronto, the permanent 1,500-square-foot Nintendo space will officially open to the public at 10:00 a.m.

Atari is getting ready to celebrate 50 years of the Atari 2600, and the festivities will officially get underway at this weekend's Portland Retro Gaming Expo 2026 in Portland, Oregon. Running from October 9 through October 11 at the Oregon Convention Center, the retro gaming event will give attendees plenty of opportunities to revisit Atari's history while also checking out some of the company's latest retro-focused releases.

Warhammer is getting ready to unleash an entirely different kind of battlefield chaos, as Auroch Digital has confirmed that Warhammer Survivors will launch on November 10, 2026. PiXEL's pseudo-3D shoot-'em-up Angelian Trigger is getting ready to expand its reach, with the game heading to PC via Steam on December 10 before making the jump to PlayStation 5 sometime in 2027. The game is already available on Nintendo Switch, having originally launched in Japan in December 2024. Angelian Trigger takes inspiration from the pseudo-3D shooting games of the past, putting players behind the controls of Mia and Sheryl as they investigate a mysterious request involving the planet Sarius.

Nintendo is giving a couple more Mushroom Kingdom favorites their own chance to interact with players, as Hello Luigi and Hello Peach have now launched on Nintendo Switch. Both apps are available as free digital downloads through the Nintendo eShop. CAVE has released a new update for DoDonPachi Resurrection Reignite, giving players one of the features they have been waiting for most. It looks like the adventure is coming to an end for The New Denpa Men, as Genius Sonority has announced that the free-to-play RPG will end service on December 6. The shutdown will bring the game's run to a close after roughly two years. The New Denpa Men originally launched for Nintendo Switch in July 2024 before making its way to iOS and Android in March 2025.

There’s no shortage of classic shoot-’em-up collections these days, but Psikyo Memories is shaping up to be a particularly substantial package for fans of arcade action. Edia has confirmed that the collection will launch for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 on February 18, 2027, bringing 12 Psikyo titles together in one release. It looks like the throne of Knights of Honor II: Sovereign has finally found a new ruler. After launching back in December 2022, the medieval grand strategy game is getting renewed support, with Update 7 arriving today as the first step in a new commitment to the game. The update comes from a new group of veteran developers working under a new banner, with THQ Nordic describing the renewed development as part of its approach to "asset care." Rather than leaving older games behind, the publisher says it wants to continue supporting titles with active communities, and Knights of Honor II: Sovereign is now getting that treatment.
