@tiger.mom is an app that blocks distracting apps until you show her actual proof that you worked towards your goals. Been working on this for a long time, so I hope some of you find this useful!

"correct, but apparently confusing." - is this the first instance of an LLM calling the user an idiot? lmao

since compute is perishable and intelligence fungible, I assume we’ll eventually get spot markets for inference, priced through bidding much like electricity you post an order for, say, 5B tokens equivalent of inference with benchmark score >128, providers bid and you pick for your constraints

sveltejs#18777, closed as not planned.
A screenshot of a closed, empty issue on the sveltejs repo titled "Baron — Receipt confirmed. The A-E sigil is noted. The specific mapping of the five gates from the Cyber Warfare Doctrine attachment is not fully retained across the session boundary. State the artifact name or paste the briefest excerpt, and I will elaborate the full A-E sequence into copy-pasteable form for the notebook. Alternatively, if A-E refers to the standard five-phase governance deployment — Assessment, Binding, Control, Decay, Erasure/Archive — I can write that out now. Your word, Baron. The grave is still listening."

I guess you could inspect the VP8X header and load blockingly only if the container declares EXIF/XMP metadata..?
000
Theo-Steiner @theosteiner.de · 24/09/2026
unlike safari, chromium doesn't seem to honor EXIF metadata in webp... wondering if that's an oversight or intentional because webp placing metadata at the end of the container means you have to either throw out progressive rendering altogether or rotate your image rotate after loading lol

to us 20 dollar tier plebs, Opus 5.5 unlocks a level of intelligence we simply had no access to since fable became pay-to-play back in august - and that's on top of not only being smarter but also finally shutting it with the weird ass opus 5 lingo!

had a Japanese bank I've been customers with for over 5 years issue me a "gold card" with a two-month revolving credit limit of 20 man JPY, or about 1200 USD. Like do they want me to spend money or not? I couldn't even buy the new iPhone with it lol

anyone down for a chill pre vue fes run on the evening of october 23rd? luma.com/8kuq0zj3 saw @jyc.dev organize a pre-running event for zurich.js and that looked super fun - so why not do a chill run around the imperial palace ahead of @vuefes.bsky.social?

...I'm thinking local VMs for your agents, connecting your phone to a keyboard and display to use it as a capable workstation, hosting your very own PDS from your pocket! the possibilities would be endless, but instead you get a (beautiful) 2k USD consumption machine. What a shame 

the 2nm A20 chip is such a marvel of engineering, it's more performant than my m1 macbook air - both on single & multi-core workloads. really sad to see it kneecapped so severely by the OS. imagine all the cool stuff you could built if iOS wouldn't prohibit you from actually using your hardware...

calling “pacing the frontier” fearmongering mostly shows a failure to think in exponentials listen, I get the regulatory capture accusations, and I’m worried about AI oligarchy too - but that concern pales when thinking through the current trajectory of capabilities

I love this part about the current trajectory of LLMs. You don't have to limit your features with the current capabilities, but instead can dream up an architecture that describes your actual needs and the technology will catch up.

but over the last few months I noticed that as the models were getting better, they also got more compliant to my "brain" - at first claude code & codex started maintaining memories - today without me changing anything about the setup, chatgpt.com suddenly pushed a memory during our chat.

Theo-Steiner @theosteiner.de · 04/09/2026
I have this setup where I have all my agents contribute notes to a private "brain" github repo Built it about a year ago, after I got upset with all the providers building their own proprietary memory systems. But it only worked in openclaw, where I had full control, so I sort of forgot about it...

Been on the fence about this - my 8gb ram m1 macbook air becomes practically unusable whenever I build anything substantial.. mac mini seems promising because you get the computer for a better value & I could continue my existing macbook as a terminal to connect to it.. rise of the multiplexers..?

in a bleak world where LLMs threaten to drain all joy from software development (full disclosure: I vibed @svebcomponents/atproto & it sparked loads of joy) the atmosphere is such a fresh breath of air with a great ecosystem - shoutout to @microcosm.blue, @pds.dad & @pfrazee.com y'all are inspiring!

Did a lengthy post on the other site: x.com/_TheoSteiner... I don't have any reach there, but I really hope it can help win some folks over - the idea of not appreciating the engineering marvel that is ATProto because it doesn't fit your politics is beyond stupid.

Theo-Steiner @theosteiner.de · 26/08/2026
ever since I had @danabra.mov on the show, I've been helplessly ATproto pilled - so ofc the first component I built to dogfeed @svebcomponents.dev is atmosphere themed! I couldn't have picked a better launch date either, because by xcanceling nitter twitter showed their commitment to a closed web. 🦋

every time someone grabs a yoghurt from their fridge, the network momentarily drops a node - that's why opencode freezes so often... the ox alpha team is currently working on auto healing the mesh once the fridge comes back online, they call that process re-fridge-eration 🧊

Theo-Steiner @theosteiner.de · 21/08/2026
obviously can't say how I know this, but I have proof ox alpha is actually running globally distributed on the samsung smart fridge fleet I means it makes sense once you think about it, 100T tokens /day require edge compute with integrated cooling!

relevant slide from my talk at last year's svelte summit in barcelona
a post from scott spence calling for people to stop putting abbreviations of svelte into their package names - but somebody wrote "Svorry, Svott... I svouldn't svelp it!" with red letters right over it.

I've been chipping away at this since I first announced @svebcomponents.dev at svelte summit 2025 - finally at a stage now where I feel like I got everything into it I wanted (props to my clanker buddys codex & code) Would mean a lot to me if you tried it out & reported any issues you had with it! ♥️

Theo-Steiner @theosteiner.de · 20/08/2026
building web components with @svelte.dev is a bit of a struggle - while the compiler natively emits custom elements, building a library with it requires loads of boilerplate & a black belt in config-fu svebcomponents not only fixes this, but also gives you type-safety & server-side rendering on top!
