The Environmental Principles Policy Statement (EPPS) comes into effect in Northern Ireland today. The EPPS, which includes the polluter pays principle, is designed to put the environment at the heart of the Executive's decision making. We welcome its introduction. Read more here 👉 bit.ly/45Xcgc7

Our recent report assesses how the Executive is doing against its six goals in its Environmental Improvement Plan (EIP) in Northern Ireland. We found that progress is limited to meet its goal of 'Thriving, resilient and connected nature and wildlife'.

There are a number of challenges in relation to how the Nutrient Action Programme (NAP) Regulations are working in Northern Ireland. We assessed the effectiveness of the regulations (2019), that are aimed at reducing agricultural pollution & improving water quality.
