I'm not sure how old the amp is, as I can't find a date of manufacture on it anywhere and looking it up on Peavey's own website... told me nothing because it couldn't find the serial number. But! I'm satisified and I'm looking forward to the next amp I bought arriving. Pedals are next on the agenda.

Namely... the amp randomly does die on its own if I fuck with some of the knobs (I suspect there's some bad connections that I'll find out once I crack it open). I also suspect that because it was in a Goodwill warehouse for a bit, it just needed... warmed up? I guess? To start working properly.

Add on to this that the clean sound... sounds almost exactly like a slightly louder version of how I had been previously playing my uke (as mentioned last time I played it without an amp), so I didn't notice while it was too quiet to work. It was hilarious. There's some other quirks that need fixed.

Then I pressed the switch to turn the lead off. And it comes out clean! I suspect what was happening previously is that I have zero experience playing an electric instrument outside of a keyboard, so I didn't adjust all of my volume knobs the first time and assumed it just wasn't working at all.

Later on I get curious and go look up a demo / review of the amp and the youtuber is talking about how it has two channels and that the way you turn on the second channel is by hitting the "Lead" button on the amp. Which, if you'll recall I thought wasn't working. So I plugged the rig up again...

The sound comes out... very distorted and makes it sound like some sort of distorted electric guitar (I'm playing an electric uke). My fiancee and I assume that because it's pre-owned, the amp was abused by its previous owner, so I play around on it happily, and assume that I have a repair project.

BUT, and this is important, it *does* work. This leads to today's story. As I mentioned I don't have an owner's manual for this amp. So I'm goofing around on it trying to get it to work (it's a Peavey Audition). And for some reason it's only working when we turn on the Lead. Or so we think, anyway.

Finally got a used amp in. It did not come with the original packaging or the instructions and I did not look them up like a silly coyote. It has... some quirks because it's a used piece of gear like it seems to only work on *very* specific settings that if I bump the knobs it kills the amp.

Which is, buy a used AlphaSmart Neo, which is exactly why I bought the laptop to begin with -- it's a no frills word processor. I *think* the USB cable for my rompler will also work for file transfer from the Neo to my actual rigs. So we'll see how things go.

Bestiary Zines -- Zines that feature unique threats in the setting. Things like the lake monsters, or even Entropy-Touched animals. Lords of Entropy can't really... be interacted with in a meaningful sense as they're basically... natural disasters in themselves, but their cultists can be!

I'm personally a big fan of heroic undead characters. I grew up playing a flash game called "Sonny", where you play as a zombie. I thought it was pretty neat. The other heroic undead protagonist that influenced the decision were Sir Daniel from MediEvil and the various vampire protagonists in media.

In the future, I'm probably going to also be doing zines on individual regions. I didn't have a lot of space to squeeze in the lore that I wanted to, though I managed some, such as "Shadow Walkers" were originally an underground civilization that at some point made it to the overworld.

There's a map on the "inside" of the Zine, which is helpful for the GM to know where everything is, and I imagine players might find it useful too, though the style of the setting is a "West Marches" style, so the players should probably make their own map.

Zero idea how I'm going to fit art on this, but we'll see where we're at when I actually lay out the zine in Affinity. A few things I've also learned, in addition to space: I oriented my zine wrong, so when you fold it, the zine is "upside down". Also, 10 unique lineages is harder than I thought.

Just finished the prototype for the zine for a BRIGHTHAMMER setting, and wow I'm really impressed. There's somehow simultaneously less room and more room than I thought there would be for writing.
