I think what irritates me the most about the midterms discourse is the DNC is so weak and unorganized that Trump can completely screw the pooch at every conceivable opportunity and is now on record to be the least popular politician in US history, and the nationwide races are still a toss up.

Understatement of the year! I’m not sure what motivated IS to do so, but recruitment in FW is so unnecessary brutal. RIP Gaitz. It’s by far the worst aspect of an otherwise fun game. I really hope they do some patching to make it more enjoyable in the not so distant future.

I think literal love between Detrich + Fabio and Detrich + Esmeralda. Like the game is pretty explicit that these characters harbor romantic feelings for him. I think even Mikaela (the maternal figure of the group) is pretty clued in on this. It’s a surprisingly bold dynamic for a Nintendo game.

I think my favorite thing about Detrich and his main crew is that they know they’re all a gang of misfits and they all lean heavily into this fact to form a sudo family. Even the bickering between Fabio and Esmeralda is that of a brother and sister, not bitter enemies. It’s love all the way down.

I played this for the first time a couple years ago and it’s now one of my favorite games. Some wisdom I’ll impart on you that I learned is that ammo is very finite, and so when the rare occasion arises that you find a crate with restocking ammo there’s 0 shame in using it over and over again.

Hot Tip #3: Your level up RNG for each character is “rolled” at the start of each chapter for all your characters. So you can’t save scum and reset until you get a god level up. You have to let the dice roll when they come unfortunately.

If at any point you’ve been to the mission area, you’ll be automatically teleported to it at the end of the deadline. So no need to waste your turns getting back to town. You can tell if you’ve done this by looking for the green checkmark on the main mission screen next to the location.

Also hot tip #2: At the end of each chapter you have a mission to accomplish. Most people think you need to be in the area of that goal or you’ll get a game over and have to restart the chapter. That’s not the case.

I feel like a lot of people playing Fortunes Weave aren’t talking about this, especially in YouTube videos, but don’t forget that you can use the temples to teleport around the map if you’ve received the host gods blessing, which especially in that first playthrough will save you a ton of turns.

The funniest thing about Detrich is that you expect him to behave similarly to Jeritza in 3H. Brooding, Shakespearean, dramatic, but no, he’s just a little psychotic sweet tooth with no impulse control or filter whatsoever. He has the same energy as a 7 year old who found a good stick at the park.

The concensus is that Advance Wars cant's come back without some kinda ass pull to make cute anime war "fun" in 2026 I would rule that the best Advance Wars for 2026 grapples with corruption and is pretty open about war being hell (also the game is balanced and CO powers are reigned waaaaay in)
