Thinking of those Americans who fell in wars that defended democracy and helped free people from oppression. May their memories inspire us to always stand up for human rights and dignity. Wishing you a meaningful Memorial Day

The area in which I live & work in Broward County, FL was Tequesta land. The Tequesta tribe ceased to exist [a small remnant fled to Cuba in the 18th century] as a result of diseases that came with European settlement, wars, and forced relocation. www.legendsofamerica.com/tequesta-tri...

Rabbi Yosef Weinstock refers to Pesach - #Passover - as the Annual Jewish Storytelling Festival. If you're attending a Seder, remember to connect the Exodus to all stories of personal and national liberations and to be inspired to work towards freedom for all

On the Hebrew calendar, today is the beginning of the month of Nisan, the first month of the year as the Torah counted. The verse "This month shall mark for you the beginning of the months; it shall be the first of the months of the year for you"

Special greetings for today: Shabbat begins tonight. Most synagogues, schools & organizations continue to provide for the highest level of security possible. You can ignore a false meme going around suggesting people stay away from services.

Some of y'all don't pass armed security on the way to religious services , or to work in a Jewish school, preschool, or organization. I do. We Jewish folks are grateful to the security personnel, law enforcement, and volunteers who are protecting the Jewish community in the US and worldwide.

A bit of a spiritual mashup, but the idea is purifying our space and our time to make room for Shabbat. Wishing you and yours a peaceful Shabbat and hoping you, too, will make space for peace amidst a chaotic world.
