ALSO I have yet to read Legacy, so maybe my words are already out of date, Resistance Reborn was a great connective narrative book, but it also felt like it's sole purpose was to be that. Which is all more noticeable as the era continues to tread lightly with these stories

The Sequel trilogy book Tie-ins like Bloodline and Shadow of the Sith etc are actually great and compliment the movies well, but they do feel a bit disconnected to each other. Like each one had a specific need to be made in relation to the ST, but barely cross over to each other

Things got a lil wonky with the mandoverse, calling her live action debut episode "The Jedi" and then having her take on an apprentice in her own show, while isn't hard to make sense of- certainly showcases Filoni's eagerness to have her be a self proclaimed Jedi again.

You’d think I’d be down for another meta narrative. But frankly the sequel trilogy was enough for me I’d rather continued stories of the ST heroes focus on outward themes rather than inward Have a say on real world events and not the nostalgia inherent to our fandom.

Good thread, i do think the 'meta' analysis of the sequels are the most dated aspect of them (and maybe some jokes) But honestly, I think the sequels would've probably thrived in literally ANY other time than they did, they were born in the middle of an aggressive online culture war in nerd fandoms

TLJ only feeds into this by teaching Rey and the audience that to be chosen by the saber isn't a blood rite Rey is wrong to pass along the saber to 'real skywalkers' or rather 'real mythical heroes'. The force chose her to be the hero of the trilogy & rightful owner of the blade
