mario kart went in a cycle of wii/7 being wild and unbalanced, to 8/8 deluxe being more locked down with mr. "no fun allowed" lakitu, to world overcompensating with being able to do almost anything, so hopefully splatoon 4 goes with the "just have fun" trend of mkworld and raiders

a common mistake I see in Splatoon map design discussion is that people will overcorrect for the horrible designs we have now and add WAY too many options for getting around the map. Having just one route is bad, yes, but I promise you don't want 5-6 ways for the enemy to get onto your plat either

if you do end up upgrading it honestly makes S3 so much better too even at 1080p, what with the improved ability to hold full resolution and the reduced latency on the controllers and console salmon run being a flawless 60fps at HLM is nice too lol
