THIS ISN'T #MOSS! 💚 This is a #liverwort, which is related to moss as they are both #bryophytes. Liverworts appear more flat compared to moss as their 'leaves' grow in rows, while moss' grow spirally around the stem. They also lack a midrib (the line down the middle of moss' leaves) #nature

Good morning and happy Sunday!! Are you getting outside today? I’m outside on a nature wander, eating snacks, and admiring all the things that catch my eye - then probably watching a movie later tonight. Any recommendations?

Have you seen these rare icy hairs before? It forms thanks to a fungus?! ❄️🍄 This is hair ice, aka ice wool & frost beard. It’s a rare phenomenon because it needs specific conditions to grow, including just below freezing temperatures and the presence of a specific fungus called Exidiopsis effusa!
