Movie adaptations that are better than the book: Children of Men: just a flawless film from a fine novel Villaneuve's Dune: all the encyclopedic stuff is there for the looking but it just dials down hard on the visually astounding As good as original: Arrival from Stories of Your Life.

Just a reminder that when Jack Smith collected extant records of Congresspersons' texts aiding Jan 6 insurrection he was hauled before Congress and idiotically threatened. But Kash Patel setting up real time intercepts of journalists' phone data is kosher. www.wired.com/story/feds-g...

Trying to remember the name of the strategy wherein one fights a proxy war but treats both sides as their ally by giving both capital and assistance. Oh, it's "idiocy"

1/25 The night of 9 October 1799, a British frigate ran onto a sandbank off the Dutch islands of Vlieland and Terschelling. Some 240 people were aboard; one survived. She carried gold and silver worth around a million pounds. Most of it is still down there. #maritimehistory #otd

"it's just a series of hybrid, cyber, and physical attacks on multiple allied countries by a single state actor. And sure a 2016 DPD definitely labels these attacks 'acts of war' but what if we just look the other way while we invite said state back into the global economic fold instead?"

When the couple from LA assure you the tacos "aren't very good" but you live in a place where decent tortillas are hard to find and are, therefore, VERY happy. "There's no tuna or canned corn, though, right?" you ask in your mind.
