We are now 4 years in of this event running, plenty of reasons for prominent community figures to not promote it positively, and yet here we are with arguably one of the biggest community figures continuing to do positive PR for it.

Community votes is no excuse to shine a positive light on an event run by someone who used to willingly allow animal abuse material on his website. That excuse wouldn't fly for several other things but for some reason we have decided we can make an exception here.

I am nearly a month late to this but really disappointing to see a channel run by a heavily prominent community figure continue to showcase Mare Fair despite knowing full well why he should not. Not surprised but still disappointed. It showing up due to "community votes" isn't an excuse.

I've heard people make claims that AI would lead to a new Renaissance, but I didn't imagine it'd happen like this:

Screenshot of a Tweet from Pope Leo XIV. It reads:

"In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgen to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity."

Well...F***. I really hope there's a good outcome somewhere. Good luck.

And to be honest, I'm in the same boat. Money is tight, but I need to keep going otherwise everything falls apart. I am thankful though, I have a support net of great people. If you can, use that support net to keep going.

Please, reconsider your options before doing something drastic. There's no turning back if you do. Regardless, I wish you the best of luck and hope things become better soon.

Please, just don't quit, there are still many who enjoy your work, and wish to keep supporting you. Give them that opportunity.

The constant humoring & benefit-of-the-doubt'ing this community does with an event whose attendees ✨consistently✨ display a nightmarish antithesis to everything this show & community typically stands for should REALLY get some people thinking about their support/attendance in the future Just sayin'

Periodical reminder that fictional characters are FICTIONAL. They DO NOT EXIST. You can't treat them as if they were real humans. Whatever crime or bad choice they committed, it is NOT REAL. It DIDN'T HAPPEN IN REAL LIFE. And reading/writing bad stuff doesn't mean to condone it.

They have sold Nazi praphenalia in their vendor hall, and their sister con Neighcon is accused of stealing $8,500 from a veterans charity. I really, truly believe that the fandom can do good things, but not if we allow hateful, dishonest people to create a safe space for bigots. (2/2)

As Mare Fair gears up for its fourth convention too many, remember that leadership is crawling with Nazis. Additionally, they had a convicted zoophile on staff and hid that information from the public. (1/2)

No longer content with pillaging intellectual work and dismembering our environment (already critically weakened), AI companies are now hellbent on destroying books galore including rare editions. Shut down these nefarious enterprises already.

AI labs buy, scan, shred millions of rare books

If you have retreated to physical books because the internet is too full of AI slop, bad news — now they’re shredding the books to feed their AI slop machines.

J.K. Rowling is going to go down in history as one of the 21st century’s great villains. Other writers have had views just as awful. No other writer has ever made a billion dollars and then used it to fund a devastatingly effective anti-civil-rights movement targeting a vulnerable group of people.

Vestibular disorders affect people's balance as well as their visual perception of their world around them. Don't make animations, sliders, videos, or rapid movement start automatically, as autoplaying elements could trigger a bad reaction in people who have vestibular disorders.

I don't care about appealing to the fandom as a whole anymore, I'm fucking sick of these people. They tell you "don't go to our con" and then invade other cons with the same behavior. The disgrace the namesake of the show and make the fandom a worse space. GET. OUT.

Happy 3-year anniversary to Don't Play Defense #Art #Pride

Mspaint doodle- a person strides forward, wearing a shirt with a trans flag. They say "I LOVE being trans!". They have an expression of pure glee.

The person is stopped by someone else, who accusingly points while they say "You! Justify your happiness to me!"

The accosting person says "Debate me no-". They are cut off by the person in the trans shirt saying "No thank you!" as lasers shoot from their eyes, exploding the head of the other character in a cartoonish fashion.

The accosting person stands, alive but expressionless as their headless torso smolders. The person in the trans shirt walks away, a stupidly happy grin still present.

Not all bronies, not most bronies. SOME bronies. SOME bronies are ruining it for the rest of us. I want to make that distinction clear. They work in groups that egg each other on like bullies at a playground. They hurt everyone else in the fandom while they're at it. See something? Say something.
