Between these, I think. I made the second for TEA and realized it had a nice steampunk feel to it and after the last patch I feel like it would fit well in the rotation 🥰💫

Joint canon ARR be like “what if we gave Orion someone who gave a fuck about him that he can trust” and it hurts as much as you’d think because the reverse is true for Yarrow too. Also means Orion gets to fluff up and be defensive.

"Where in the bleeding hells is he then?" Orion huffed, terrified of the answer, "If you tell me he's out in that soon to be storm..."
"'--it's a possibility, ser."
"I can't trust a godsdamned one of you. Not a single fucking one," Orion hissed under his breath as he turned around to go get dressed in heavier clothing.
"He's the Warrior of Light! He'll fare a storm, surely?"
Turning to look at him, pupils pulled more into slits than their usual resting orbs, he curled his lip back. "All of you are fuckin' useless, just because he can doesn't mean he should." Huffing under his breath, he knew Yarrow would hate his language to guard simply trying to help even if they were in fact ass at it. "Just man a post and do a job."
"You don't give my orders."
"Yeah? Take a long walk off a short rampart then, aye?" Orion bit before continuing up to his room.

⏳"Are you alright?" "Who cares? You aren't," Orion answered, huffing out into the cold. "Why are you out here alone?" "I care," Yarrow answered with a soft chuckle and a smile, "You fool."💫 #keepingtime ( w @cannibalanders.bsky.social )

Unfortunately I do love Leofard and Orion’s dynamic as cocky little shits who razz each other any chance they get

"Because! It's dead annoyin' knowin' you're all pent up and out of shape. I'd offer myself--"
"No one wants that least of all me."
"Figured as much. So, go on. Trot into Idyllshire, find your self a pretty pick and get a mutual fill.
Then you can stop actin' like someone out there hung the stars and you missed it."
But what if he did and I have.
"Fine, if you'll leave me be. I'll go and see if anything interests and at worst I'll unwind alone or somethin'."
"I need you to interact with another person, Ace. You've been up your own arse in thought since ye got here. Least you need is a hand there too."
Orion's mouth split without meaning to into a grin before he laughed. "Shove off it!"

Day 6: Free Day - "Dilute" Rated T | Gen | 291 words | Joint AU where Orion ends up with the Redbills during most of base HW Orion is a judge of many things but especially liquor.

Tilting the liquor back and forth, Orion eyed the coloration as it swept the sides. The bottle, while appearing to be sealed when they opened it, was most assuredly tampered with. He needn't taste it to know that and with a sigh, the rest of the room looked at him expectantly.

"Been diluted, somewhere along the line. Some kid opened it and replaced what they took with water or somethin' like it, I reckon," Orion noted, wincing as the rich orange of the fluid thinned out when turned to its side. "Gross."

"You know that without tastin' of it?" Leofard pressed, hands on the table before him. His brow raised with the corner of his mouth. "Some sort of expert, are ye?"

"Well... yeah. D'ye think I did a bunch of nothin' out there in the world before joinin' you? Sat waitin' around to get plucked up by pirates? Come off it," Orion muttered.

Taking the bottle from him with a swipe of his hand, Leofard eyed it himself. "How diluted? We talkin' a little or—"

"Would taste like shite—well, the wisp of shite."

Stacia covered her mouth both from a soft laugh and grimace at the explanation. "Thanks, Orion."

"He asked! M'not supposed to say if asked? It looks like it was a nice grain liquor and watered down it'd just be sad. Desperation would drive a man to that bottle and naught else."

"Then we'll save it for when we're desperate," Leofard decided and sat it far back on his shelf. "Or for medical supplies. "Maybe both dependin' on the day we're 'avin."

Orion chuckled and turned his attention to the rest of the loot. "Let's pray our cabinets get a better stock than our medical supplies, aye?"

“There before the threshold, I saw a brighter world beyond myself.” 🍁🍂 #keepingtime (w @cannibalanders.bsky.social’s Yarrow)

Yda, Papalymo and Alphinaud talk to one another on a trail in the shroud as Orion and Yarrow fall behind them in their own conversation. The world is doused in a warm autumn hue as the sun begins to set as if everything knows in that moment it is nostalgia.

The Scion’s newest addition is having dreams of grandeur, but instead of power or fame it’s getting the quiet scholar in the corner to kiss him. While it is only a dream... it’s a damn good one in his opinion. #keepingtime 💫🕰️

Orion dips Yarrow, a white haired viera back against a table in the back of the waking sands. Their faces are lit by a single lantern, close and smiling at one another as if they might soon kiss. They won’t though as this is just a dream and not reality.

Day 5: Preservation - "What May Flourish" Rated G | Gen | 501 words | Halmarut (Orion's ancient self in joint AU) & some Venat Halmarut lingers on what it means to preserve. (concepts, themselves and the star) Entire piece in screenshots as it's short.

What life was once vibrant would always wilt, that was the way of it for all of time and now was no different.

Curling a hand around a leaf, barbs of its outer lining gentle in their prick, Halmarut had long reminisced. The former Halmarut, their mentor, had been gone a year now. His lineage held high in his successor, confidence given over without so much of a beat in hesitation. Apparently, when he brought the suggestion to the Convocation it was barely discussed. The interview was minor and seemed merely formal for the sake of standard.

While this might give another confidence, it instilled somewhat the opposite in Orion. Expectation came with assumptions, assumptions came with weight. Yes, they would be a wonderful Halmarut. Yes, they would preserve that which their mentor worked on diligently. Yes, the Word would flourish. None of that was the worry.

Halmarut of eld was warm, kind and gentle. He was like a summer's day touching one's skin laid beneath a large tree. Shelter and rest while taking in the world around you. Connecting to the earth under your feet, the star in her entirety your friend, and so on it he gave her gifts. Beautiful creatures and plants, branching and budding in every imaginable color.

Orion did things a little differently. More akin to the Halmarut before the last with each design a little more dangerous than the last. Teeth and vines and warnings wrapped up in green. Yet still, as she had picked up her mentee, maybe it was her that was seen in Orion. Preservation beyond lifetimes. Buds that bloomed from branches that had weathered storm after storm.

Running their thumb against the soft fur-like feeling of the leaf before dropping it, Halmarut took a steadying breath. Eventually, they too would do the same. They would find their work complete and pass it on to another soul in hopes that they too would add to their star with that self-same love.

Eyes out to their Word, Halmarut studied those beneath them. All so young, so eager. Ideas sprouted from their minds like loose-flung seeds had been cast out into fertile soil. What concepts were borne of it varied in use and design but most were good. The ones that weren't took well to advice it appeared, but what if they didn't?

They often mused about this worry to Azem.

"You must trust them," she would say and smile at the sigh she knew was coming, "I do not know why you ask if you know what I will reply."

"Hopes that it will differ, perhaps."

"That sounds like a fool's gamble and I know you to be no fool, Orion," Azem hummed, shoulder pressed to theirs, "Let them grow as you do your concepts. Let them fail. Wilt. Burn. Life always finds its way back around and forward, doesn't it?"

"I suppose," Halmarut had answered then, eyes out to a field vibrant in its green. "Would that I had your every confidence.
