Symmetry in Bloom | ~24K | E | (5/8) {RTs ❤️)} #svsss #liushen Courtesan Shen Yuan AU fic that turned into a treatise on dual cultivation as a metaphor for sex work and fate and making do with what you got at the moment! archiveofourown.org/works/849320...

Summary:

Shen Yuan transmigrates as Zhan Yuan, a child raised in the Warm Red Pavilion. A chance meeting with two future peak lords (brought about by a crabby young Shen Yuan yelling at them) leads to the possibility of a bright future. Except fate even without an active system is not generally that kind, especially in the world of Proud Immortal Demon Way.

(or, courtesan shen yuan au that turned into a treatise on dual cultivation)

Both cultivators (Dan-jie’s client dressed in inner robes and the other one in slim fitting white and blue ones) turned towards him.

The one who wasn’t a client was… weirdly pretty for a man, but that didn’t stop his face from morphing into disgust which Shen Yuan didn’t realize wasn’t directed at him until he looked over at Dan-jie’s client like he was actually scum on his shoe. “A child?”

The client (who Shen Yuan was not going to call ‘A-Jiu’ out loud even if he looked younger than Shen Yuan before he’d died) looked like he might actually kill the other cultivator for that remark.

Shen Yuan just laughed, it was a rough, tired, caustic laugh, but it was enough to draw both their attention. He stared up at the pretty boy cultivator and held up the smelly bucket he’d been hauling around. “Wow, the stunning logic of Master Cultivators! Surely, I must be here to seduce Xiuzhe with my bucket full of inedible kitchen scraps I was planning on taking to the neighbor to feed their chickens until you broke the door.”

Shen Yuan scowled and gestured with the bucket. “Unless there’s some immediate danger of a ghost or demon eating half the jiejies, I don’t know why you think it’s okay to just charge in here and start yelling all sorts of rude things or beating up people who paid to be here!”

Not that he had any particular fondness for people who paid to be there, but Shen Yuan was unfortunately familiar with how buying out a contract worked even if he wasn’t doing the job of a courtesan. Madam Cao certainly wasn’t going to take the price of the door out of her own paycheck.

Pretty man cultivator’s eyebrows had been slowly descending downwards and seemed to be at their limit. “I was defending my shidi.”

Shen Yuan’s scowl did not improve. “Your ‘shidi’s’ virtue can be saved without breaking the door just dock his allowance.”

A-Jiu made a noise like he was choking and covered his face, turning slightly to the side. Pretty man cultivator seemed to go red, whether it w…

As a late diagnosed queer person the nostalgia in my art isn’t really decade specific but comes from the intersection of grief and “what could have been” and the bliss of being a carefree child that could just be a genderless blob and run around before the awkwardness and problems settled in

He's so irresistibly squishable!! #svsss #bingliushen #liuqingge

Writing that says: "A squishy Liu Qingge" with sparkles

Two hands are squishing a tiny, chibi Liu Qingge between the palms. Liu Qingge is trying to get out, looking cute and angry.

Liu Qingge's face is squished between Shen Qingqiu's bare thighs. His eyes are closed, drooling, looking incredibly content. A cursive font across his head reads: "heaven".
A speech bubble in the bottom center is Shen Qingqiu saying: "Shidi..."

Liu Qingge is squished between Luo Binghe and Shen Qingqiu in a cuddle pile on a bed. Luo Binghe is smiling with hearts above his head. Shen Qingqiu is looking adoringly at the two men in his arms, saying: "Shidi". Liu Qingge is raging, because he's embarrassed and can probably feel the heavenly pillar rising...

Homesick ! A cumplane comic Part 2 of part 5 <3

A comic page in black and white with touches of orange. Shang Qinghua says hesitantly “ So… You care about me despite it all ?”
Shen Yuan stays a moment looking at his friend, a bit embarrassed “Well I need you for the rest of PIDW… “ and in small letters “And you’re my friend.”
There's two shot of Shang Qinghua’s face, his eyes are hidden in both panel. On the first he’s smile, on the second he lower his head, not smiling anyone. We says “ I thought… you didn't want me anymore.” Shen Yuan is sweating.

A comic page in black and white with touches of orange. In his panel, neither of theirs eyes are visible. Shen Yuan responds “Of course not. I was just… busy”. They stays silent, booths fidgeting. Shang Qinghua with his feet, and Shen Yuan with his hands. There's a lot of tension. Shang Qinghua says “You wanna talk about it ?” Shen Yuan is really sweating and looks too embarrassed to talk. There's a shot of Shang Qinghua’s messy desk with an Hamster figurine eating a melon sheed. The figurine is colored in orange. Shang Qinghua declare “Okay. I’ll say something then”.

A comic page in black and white with touches of orange. Shang Qinghua hesitate “I..” On the side, Shen Yuan is looking at him, very nervous. Shang Qinghua continues “ I love the time we spend together. When I'm with you, I forget all my problems. Money, housing, parents problems…” Shen Yuan try to say “Fei…” but Shang Qinghua cut him nervously ”And I care about you bro. Really ! You’re my best friend. So I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable last time. I failed at reading the room and I thought you wanted to… kiss me. Which is really dumb haha…”

A comic page in black and white with touches of orange. Shen Yuan's rubs nervously his hands on his laps. Shang Qinghua continues to talk “ Like a guy like you could love someone like me… Anyway !! I we could forget that would be cool… Haha..” Then Shen Yuan mumble something. Shang Qinghua turns to him and ask “what?” The last panel shows Shen Yuan and Shang Qinghua both sitting on the bed, there orange floating everywhere like if Shen Yuan was glowing. Shen Yuan says, head low “I wanted to” all in one-go.

Homesick ! A cumplane comic Part 1 of part 5 <3

A comic page in black and white with touches of orange. Shen Yuan asks Shang Qinghua “What happened ?” Shang Qinghua answers “Nothing ! I mean, nothing much.. You know me haha… Always dramatic… Haha”
Shen Yuan seems concerned. He begin to say “Airplane…” but he’s cuts by his friend who continue” It’s just… outside of you, my life isn't really nice. There's my money problems. And my parents, unable to act like parents” We see a shot of the rain outside Shang Qinghua’s window.

A comic page in black and white with touches of orange. Shang Qinghua continues “And they're this thing… with Proud Immortal Demon Way… “ Shen Yuan says “ What happened?!”
Shang Qinghua answers “ I was approached by a production house. For a TV adaptation… “We hear Shen Yuan screams “Huh ?!” Shang Qinghua keeps talking “I wanted to keep it a surprise… But the meeting didn't go as planned. I was shown the percentage I would earn and- Bro ! It was ridiculous!”

A comic page in black and white with touches of orange. Shang Qingua is still talking. “PIDW has millions of readers on Zhodian Literature. I know the writing is shitty. But my book is popular! I deserve to earn more than that !
And they kinda… Threatened me ? Shen Yuan screams “ What ?!”
The last panel is showing Shen Yuan gripping Shang Qinghua’s shoulders while saying in a dark tone “Spill it out.”

A comic page in black and white with touches of orange. Shang Qinghua and Shen Yuan are sitting on the bed silently. Shen Yuan is reading the production house’s contract. Then he torns the paper sheets. Shang Qinghua screams “Bro !!” Shen Yuan says while dropping the torn papers on the floor “That's a shitty deal. And these people are thieves. It’s worthless anyway. It’s falling appart “
