Mitch 3D @themitch22.bsky.social · 31/08/2026I designed a custom shift boot using Fusion to generate the pattern, used scrap denim from my hemmed jeans, and created a custom collar sleeve to tie it around the shifter shaft. It turned out amazingly and it gives my car a comfortable feel to it. 2191

Mitch 3D @themitch22.bsky.social · 23/07/2026Or.. a pi pico camera with floppy drive (probably could directly drive it with the PIO) since I could use the 2mb of flash possibly. Then it really gets silly! 120

Mitch 3D @themitch22.bsky.social · 07/07/2026It’s a really addicting game like the original. That’s why I want to make the versus mode. It’s motivating me to make it in Godot game engine so I can do multiplayer. I should learn more about game programming but the AI is a very useful crutch. 000
Mitch 3D @themitch22.bsky.social · 07/07/2026It’s a blessing for ADHD, but a curse for the environment. And that’s why I’m conflicted. 100
Mitch 3D @themitch22.bsky.social · 07/07/2026I’m sure it is. It’s good enough that I can play with programs and figure out what I really want to dive into so I don’t start a million projects that I never finish. 100
Mitch 3D @themitch22.bsky.social · 05/07/2026So I had Gemini create two front end games as a proof of concept, to learn more about how this works. I gave it the bare minimum prompts and it spit out very playable games entirely html/css/vue.js. It's scary how easy it was to do. Mitch 3D @themitch22.bsky.social · 04/07/2026We use it all the time to make tools and local apps. I’ve used it to make the last microcontroller projects. I get that it’s a tool. But it’s another tool that takes away human struggle like the dishwasher and clothes washers. 100
Mitch 3D @themitch22.bsky.social · 03/07/2026Anyone else having an existential crisis about AI lately? Like anyone with half a brain can write fully functional apps for very bespoke use-cases. Besides the economic and environmental impacts, I have anxiety of what this really means for humanity; good or bad. 340
Mitch 3D @themitch22.bsky.social · 26/05/2026electronics were incredibly expensive back then, but consider inflation. Now with inflation, our spending on electronics is not as much of our income but we don't have as much discretionary income because of inflation and stagnant wages. Hard drives almost followed Moore's law though. 120

Mitch 3D @themitch22.bsky.social · 25/05/2026The other retro computing project I have is an HP 7475a plotter. It needs some restoration but I plan on getting it so I can send HPGL files to it over a network with a microcontroller. 000

Mitch 3D @themitch22.bsky.social · 25/05/2026My ultimate plan is making this a sleeper build with either an M-series Mac, or a small embedded PC I can run some modern games on. Keeping the original crt display, there are intense mods to make it work with VGA signals (arduino generating sync signals and I2C vga data). 280
Mitch 3D @themitch22.bsky.social · 25/05/2026So slot loading drive doesn’t load discs which sucks. I can move files over usb very slowly though so I am transferring dmg’s from Mac garden. Mitch 3D @themitch22.bsky.social · 12/05/2026I started with gridfinity, but I really wanted something that works vertically and horizontally as well. It is a resource hog though, my Core One has been busy printing parts for weeks and lots of PETG used. Making the best use of my limited space 050
Mitch 3D @themitch22.bsky.social · 12/05/2026I plan on adding base plates to the workbench drawers. The goal is to have all my common fasteners and electronics components sorted so I can quickly prototype and fix stuff. Reducing friction to making stuff is my priority. 130

Mitch 3D @themitch22.bsky.social · 11/04/2026I thought about that and adding my own nickel strips to make them 9V powered. I have the Lego train controller already. 110
Mitch 3D @themitch22.bsky.social · 11/04/2026I have considered that as well. The Lego train thing is just because I like building them, but I’d consider regular HO scale which you can get way more track and it’s powered rail which would work better for this. 110
Mitch 3D @themitch22.bsky.social · 11/04/2026Wow that’s cool. I could print the tracks as well and still use the modern Lego battery trucks. 000
