Nintendo actually denied that the name change was due to trademark issues.... but didn't say what the reason was for not being able to secure/move forward the Ultra 64 namesake worldwide AFTER putting out multiple worldwide ads using the name.. which is why many believe it was Konami. 🕹️2/2🕹️

September 29 1996, The Nintendo 64 debuted in the Americas WITH Super Mario 64 and Pilot Wings 64! The N64 was originally to be called the Ultra 64, then changed. Konami owned the trademark for "Ultra Games", ironically because Nintendo limited 3rd party NES game production years before! 🕹️1/2🕹️
