Not to imply that those behaviors are only early signs of harmful behavior, I'm only meaning that we seem to have animal torture as this unimpeachable red line, and I look forward to the day that domestic abuse and partner violence is seen the same way. It's a cliff, not a slope. It stands apart.

Domestic abuse and sexual assault, even the stuff that people dismiss as just "pushing boundaries", should be seen on the same level as torturing animals in terms of red flags. More than a red flag, a Mariokart style rainbow strip speed boost that leads directly to future harm if not extinguished.

Christmas Carol is probably my easiest example of art that felt like it was there all along and just got revealed one day by someone. "There was a world where people didn't have Christmas Carol" is hard to believe. "We've been telling this story forever but not writing it down" seems so plausible.
