Film #317 of 2026 Yakuza Graveyard (1976) Slightly disappointing crime drama from Kinji Fukasaku. I reviewed the new Blu from Radiance. cinemasentries.com/yakuza-grave...

Yakuza Graveyard Blu-ray Review: A Gritty, Grim Japanese Gangster Film - Cinema Sentries

Fukasaku infuses it with a gritty, chaotic energy that is rather mesmerizing.

Film #315 of 2026 Hot Enough for June (1964) Plays like a comedy, but there aren't many jokes. But it isn't serious enough to be thrilling. Still, I like Dirk Bogarde, and Sylva Koscina is lovely, and it all goes down light and easy.

Halloween II: I know it has its detractors, but I love it. The Nude Vampire: There ain't nothing like a Jean Rollin film. Sweet Sixteen: Surprisingly good The Burning: MIght be a Friday the 13th ripoff but I liked it. #letterboxdfriday #lastfourwatched

Film #312 of 2026 Once a Thief (1965) Terrific crime drama about Alain Delon trying to clean up his life after a life of crime and Ann Margret as his beleaguered wife.

Film #311 of 2026 The Erotic Rites of Frankenstein (1973) Jess Franco makes a Frankenstein movie. It is as good, weird, and awful as you might expect.

Film #310 of 2026 Tintin and the Blue Oranges (1964) Very silly and runs a bit long. Love that they got the look of so many characters just exactly perfect, but also they move like the comics, which was delightful.

Film #305 of 2026 Two Small Bodies (1993) Interesting murder mystery with just Fred Ward (as a creepy detective) and Suzy Amis (as the potential suspect). Not as clever as it thinks it is but some good performances by both.

Film #302 of 2026 The Evil that Men Do (1984) Charles Bronson as a killer-for-hire versus a Joseph Mengele-esque Doctor in South America. Another team-up with J. Lee Thompson. Not nearly as sleazy as some of their other team-ups, but certainly as dumb.

Film #301 of 2026 10 to Midnight (1983) I've been on a Bronson kick this year. It is amazing how many of these films are not very good and really rather right-wing in their politics. Yet I still kind of love them.

Film #294 of 2026 The Mandalorian and Grogu (2026) Some of this was enjoyable. It is far too long. And I hate how they keep going back to the well and sucking old things dry. Jabba the Hutt was cool, but I don't need more Hutts. I certainly don't need a beefed up Hutt playing sumo wrestler.

Film #293 of 2026 Hell is a City (1960) I'm a sucker for this sort of thing. I love a good crime procedural, especially one that is British and from this period. Could have used less of the nagging wife, but everything else is aces.
