MLBPA's response:
SNYtv tweet:

The MLBPA released the following statement about today's negotiation:

"The league made multiple scheduling proposals today. We are reviewing these materials, including the proposed changes to the playoff format. Players will weigh in on these proposals and we will respond at the bargaining table. Unfortunately, the league once again made clear that all of its proposals are contingent on players’ agreement to a salary cap, a system that guts player rights and compensation, as well as its other anti-player proposals."

MLB announced they're proposing shortening the regular season to 154 games and changing the division series to seven games.
MLB tweeted:

MLB has proposed returning to a 154-game Regular Season, best-of-seven Division Series, and opponent selection in the Wild Card and Division Series

Starting in 2029, shortening the season to a 154-game schedule would create a standard weekly off day benefiting player health, and it would allow the addition of up to 8 more Postseason games by moving to a best-of-seven Division Series format

Beginning in 2027, higher-seeded clubs in the Wild Card and Division Series would select their opponents

The Philadelphia Phillies have been spurned again by Alex Cora.

Dave Dombrowski, Phillies president of baseball operations, spoke with Cora about becoming their manager in 2027, but Cora informed Dombrowski he’s taking the season off, a high-ranking Phillies executive with direct knowledge of their talks told USA TODAY Sports.

The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the Phillies still have not decided who will manage their team.
