Unwise or not, I've been happy and alive for 11 years, which I'm told is better than sad and not alive. There were no justifications for self-preservation if I hadn't transitioned as soon as I could. Life & society is a lot of work; changing my body is a prerequisite to putting up with all of that.

If there's a non-medical way to physically transition I'm all ears, but yea, medical transition was the only way I was gonna justify putting up with all of the other nonsense on this flying rock. I understand caution, but usually its like 6-12mo of gender therapy + a Psy and Dr. signature for HRT.

As a trans kid, who couldn't come out and transition until they were 22 for safety reasons, I got the impression nobody wanted me to self-medicate or carve myself up, so doing it with a medical professional seems like the better option?

Physical is pretty easy to digitize, digitization means easy backups and a RAID setup, RAID lets you keep waterfalling that data for many years, plus offsite backups with the physical media being a third backup. So outside of things like disc rot, physical media satisfies the 3rd backup for me.

Some virtual hosts used to run in a pair of SD cards for compute-only vCenter servers. They’d last for 5-7 years but would dir quietly, which meant they’d reboot into nothingness. Samsung sells Endurance microSD cards with more write cycles designed for continuous recording and industrial use.

I’m visually impaired so some cooking is pretty challenging and I generally just kind of suck at it, but you can optimize the heck out of some takeout (Wawa, etc.) to get like 3 or 4 meals for 5-6 bucks each. Sometimes some noodles are just fine, but there are definitely strategies.

I remember looking up survival foods and finding a mix of raisins, cucumbers, and bulk chocolate that lasted me 2 weeks because I managed to get some work during the summer when I was in college and living off that was better than being with my family.

The Sony BDPBX370 is around 79$ available at Best Buy, and the Panasonic DMP-BD84P-K is available pretty readily online. Target or Walmart may also have them. I have two of the Sony units and keep one in a sealed box. If you’re just playing DVDs scroll right past all the expensive 4K players.
