Especially when that moment feels alive with motion, personality and a hint of story. Eye of the Storm is a D&D character piece centred on a dragonborn mage caught in the glow of his own magic. I wanted the whole illustration to feel charged with tension and confidence.

Created in Clip Studio Paint There is something deeply satisfying about painting a summer piece that feels full of warmth, personality and a little bit of chaos, and Hot Goblin Summer absolutely delivered on that. This illustration is a playful fantasy beach scene built around one very confident goblin enjoying her day in the sun. She is front and centre in a bright pink bikini, oversized sun hat and heart-shaped sunglasses, looking every bit like she owns the whole beach.

Commissioning an artist can feel a little intimidating the first time you do it. You might have a beloved original character, a landscape, a book protagonist, or a very specific fantasy person who has been living rent-free in your head for years. But how do you turn all of that into a clear art commission? The good news is that most artists are used to working from a mixture of descriptions, references, chaotic notes, Pinterest boards, and phrases like “I know this sounds strange, but…”

There has been a lot of talk around whether tables should use the 2014 D&D rules or the 2024 rules. Which one is better? Which one is “proper”? Should everyone convert immediately? Should everyone stubbornly cling to the old books like a dragon sleeping on a hoard of discontinued subclasses? Personally, after being a Dungeon Master for many a year, or Dungeon Mistress as my players call me, I have landed on a much less dramatic answer.
