Fun fact: indycar’s drone once crashed onto the track during one of the (not indycar) races I’ve called. Strangely this was the second time in my career I’d had drone wreckage needed to be recovered during a yellow flag in a race I was calling.

I’m sorry but this attitude of “push regardless of the safety of those around you” needs to be nipped in the bud. If a car is in the wall, there’s clear yellows being shown, a driver shouldn’t be able to push through that area so hard that they take pole position

One thing I love about racing is while yes you can boil it down to “who was fastest that day,” that outcome hinges on a million other tiny resource managements. Fuel, tires, equipment, momentum at certain parts of the lap, track position, pit strategy, etc, etc, etc
