My reaction to Trump renaming Lake Ontario to Lake America. I hope Google is paying attention.

Well. This is weird. When I go into Settings —> AirPods Pro —> Battery on my iPhone running iOS 26.1, this is what I see. It is referring to AirPods as “development device.” Is this just me?
My AirPods Pro battery screen on iOS 26.1 refereeing to AirPods as “development device.”

iOS 18.3.1 is out. Let me see what this fixes. My thought is that that it is a security fix based on the release notes.

Apple Intelligence highlighting a phishing email. #Fail Fun fact: I run my own mail server which is why I know this is a phishing email.... Other than the low effort phishing attempt.

Apple has released iOS 18.2.1 today. There's no security fixes that Apple admits to. But you should likely download it anyway.

Sure enough, macOS 18.1.1 has dropped for the same security issue.

iOS 18.1.1 is out with "important security fixes". While I look to see what those fixes are, you might want to go download and install this.

It seems that Apple updated iMovie yesterday. As usual, they failed to say what they fixed.

The time has now come to update my Macs to macOS 15.1 as I never update to the .0 release. This should be fun. You'll also note that there's an update for macOS 14 if you aren't ready to jump to macOS 15 yet.

I'm now working on updating my Apple Watch to watchOS 11.1 and the release notes have only one real detail of note. But only for those who have an Apple Watch that can do breathing disturbance detection.

Next up is iOS 18.1... I will hunt down the security update info in a few minutes.

In a very uncharacteristic move by Apple, software updates are available RIGHT NOW. I am starting with HomePod software 18.1 and working my way from there.

This was pretty late in the day, but Apple has dropped both iOS 18.0.1 and watchOS 11.0.1 to fix a bunch of nasty bugs that users have been experiencing since both were released two weeks ago.

Now that those are done, it's time for watchOS 11 to be installed.

The IT Nerd @theitnerd.ca · 16/09/2024
And it continues with HomePod software 18. More to come in a few moments.

It's that time of the year which is Apple new OS season. The fun starts with iOS 18. But if you're not ready for iOS 18, Apple has also released iOS 17.7.

watchOS 10.6.1 is out with a bug fix for Apple Fitness +. Also out is tvOS 17.6.1.
000
The IT Nerd @theitnerd.ca · 07/08/2024
And macOS 14.6.1 is out too with the same fixes.
000
The IT Nerd @theitnerd.ca · 07/08/2024
iOS 17.6.1 is out. At least Apple didn't say bug fixes and improvements or something lame like that.
100
The IT Nerd @theitnerd.ca · 30/07/2024
Apple released a number of software updates yesterday. macOS 14.6, HomePod Software 17.6, iOS 17.6. and watchOS 10.6 hit the streets. These will likely be the last updates before the new Apple Ones come out in the fall.

This is a pretty bad phishing email. Whoever created this should not expect anyone to fall for it as it is simply that bad.

Consider this a must upgrade if you run iOS 17.5. Apple just released iOS 17.5.1 that fixes the bug that brought photos that were deleted back from the dead.

This morning I seem to be the target of a someone who seems determined to drop Ransomware on my computer. The first picture is the email that I keep getting. The second is what's in the Zip file. Lovely.

Apple’s iWork apps on iOS have been updated.

Apple dropped macOS 14.4.1 along with macOS Ventura 13.6.6. The Apple security update site has been updated as a result with the security issues that they fix. It doesn't look like there's anything sinister, as in the security bugs were actively exploited. But you should update ASAP anyway.

Ironically on the same day that Apple gets sued by the DoJ, iOS 17.4.1 is out. I'll find out what security updates it has. But I would consider this to be something that you should install ASAP. Also Apple released the following as well: iPadOS 17.4.1 visionOS 1.1.1 iOS 16.7.7 iPadOS 16.7.7

Today is a busy day. And it just got busier with Apple doing a dump of software updates. Starting with iOS 17.4 which among other things tries to comply with the EU's Digital Markets Act.

macOS 14.3.1 just hit my Mac. It has the same bug fixes as iOS 17.3.1.
000
The IT Nerd @theitnerd.ca · 08/02/2024
It also seems that macOS 14.3.1 was also released today. Not sure what that fixes as it hasn't hit my Mac. But Apple's security website says that these updates don't address anything security related. At least not that they admit to.
000
The IT Nerd @theitnerd.ca · 08/02/2024
Apple has also released watchOS 10.3.1. The release notes have no meaningful information in them.
000
The IT Nerd @theitnerd.ca · 08/02/2024
Apple just released iOS 17.3.1. It lists a single bug fix for text overlapping. So far no security notes have been posted.
