Homero Rios @thehomerorios.bsky.social · 15/07/2025Haven’t posted lately — been deep in the pitch trenches. One takeaway worth sharing: Don’t ask for a chance. Present your work like it belongs. Editors don’t need hopefuls. They need clarity, commitment, and vision. Your pitch should show all three. Every time. 072
Homero Rios @thehomerorios.bsky.social · 03/07/2025Recently reached out to an editor I admire. We’ve never worked together, but the exchange has been organic and encouraging. If you’re trying to break in, don’t ask to “prove” yourself. Show your intent. Share your experience. Let your pitch do the talking. 020
Homero Rios @thehomerorios.bsky.social · 27/06/2025MUNDO DIABLO was my return to Spanish comics. Published by @heavymetalofficial.bsky.social VIRUS, it spun out of Paco Haghenbeck’s El Diablo Me Obligó and the Netflix Diablero universe. He wanted to write more diablero stories with me. COVID didn’t let that happen. I still miss him. 010
Homero Rios @thehomerorios.bsky.social · 26/06/2025WRITING TIP: OPEN WITH THE ECHO Start with the regret. The wound. The tremor. Let the reader chase the cause — it’s more powerful when they arrive there on their own. #WritingTips #ComicWriting #HeavyMetalMagazine 020
Homero Rios @thehomerorios.bsky.social · 23/06/2025Not every pitch needs art. But not every writer gets to make that case. Grateful to editors like @heavymetalofficial.bsky.social and @humanoids.com who’ve trusted me to lead with story. Literary-first pitching works — when the writing’s solid. #WritingTips #ComicPitches #GratitudePost 020
Homero Rios @thehomerorios.bsky.social · 20/06/2025WORLD-BUILDING TIP Depth grows from constraint, not expansion. Define your world’s limits—maps, magic, culture—and let that drive every detail. It’s how SINSTRESS and ORB SPINNER found density and clarity. #WritingTips #WorldBuilding #Comics 010

Homero Rios @thehomerorios.bsky.social · 19/06/2025Been deep in pitch mode this week. Grateful for editors who trust story-first proposals—no art, just the bones. Rare, but powerful. Big shoutout to @heavymetalofficial.bsky.social and @humanoids.com for making that space. If you’re an editor open to that, I’ve got stories to share. 100
Homero Rios @thehomerorios.bsky.social · 13/06/2025Anthology comics are all about compression. The best short stories don’t build up to a twist—they start with one. Then the fun begins. I’ve written a dozen+ of these across Heavy Metal, Megadeth, and others—and each one teaches me something new. 000
Homero Rios @thehomerorios.bsky.social · 10/06/2025Writing short comics for Heavy Metal and Metal Hurlant taught me that 6-8 pages is more than enough to hit hard—if you know the core of your story. Write toward the final image. One action per panel. Let the silence carry weight. It’s not short—it’s precise. 161
Homero Rios @thehomerorios.bsky.social · 09/06/2025If you’re an editor looking for short-form storytelling, I’ve got something for you. I’ve written for Heavy Metal, Metal Pesado,Metal Hurlant, No Connection and Megadeth: Death by Design—always bringing myth, horror, and human tragedy into sharp focus. DMs open for pitches or collabs. 020
Homero Rios @thehomerorios.bsky.social · 08/06/2025SO… this arrived today. What a great day to be a Taarna fan! Congrats @tehanifarr.bsky.social @heavymetalofficial.bsky.social 050
Homero Rios @thehomerorios.bsky.social · 06/06/2025In 2013, I wrote a webcomic about a prince whose world falls apart. He hides in the Mountain. And waits for war. It was called BEREN. Created with José Dex and Renato Quiroga. We had no map. Just a story to tell. 161
Homero Rios @thehomerorios.bsky.social · 06/06/2025What a wonderful thing it is that my name is alongside Jodorowsky, Caza, Mœbius, and Druillet. What a marvel to be a young vision among old dreams. @metalhurlantoff.bsky.social @humanoids.com 071
Homero Rios @thehomerorios.bsky.social · 05/06/2025DON’T JUST WRITE ACTION. WRITE INTENT. In comics, clarity of why a panel exists is as important as what happens in it. “Character walks in, looks left, grabs knife.” Okay—but what drives this moment? What must the reader feel? The best scripts don’t just describe scenes. They guide emotion. 030
Homero Rios @thehomerorios.bsky.social · 03/06/2025The script isn’t just dialogue. It’s rhythm. It’s silence. It’s timing. The way a page breathes is as important as what’s being said. You don’t write panels — you write pacing. Example from ROME ETERNAL, published by @magmacomix.bsky.social . Art by Diego Yapur. Colors by Oscar Carreño. 052
Homero Rios @thehomerorios.bsky.social · 02/06/2025Looking for a writer? Let's talk. I've written for @heavymetalofficial.bsky.social , @metalhurlantoff.bsky.social , Sumerian Comics, @magmacomix.bsky.social , Impressia and more. Send a message — I’ll make it easy to get a sense of my voice and range. 100

Homero Rios @thehomerorios.bsky.social · 26/05/2025House of Leaves by Danielewski, shifted my idea of structure. Comics can carry disorientation and emotional collapse. You’ll feel it in “The Lights in the Night Sky, the Abyss, and the Space Castaway” — out now in Metal Hurlant #15 (FR) and #1 (US). @metalhurlantoff.bsky.social @humanoids.com 091
Homero Rios @thehomerorios.bsky.social · 23/05/2025Métal Hurlant #15 (FR) is out in kiosks. Métal Hurlant #1 (US) is landing with backers. Both include my story: “The Lights in the Night Sky, the Abyss, and the Space Castaway” Art by Leno Carvalho. Grateful to be in both editions. Let the echoes speak. @metalhurlantoff.bsky.social @humanoids.com 0226
