It allows for gun designs that needlefires couldn't be which gives a nice bit of stretch space. Sometimes these are things I've written as thalmvaric guns but in more recent lore they are the guns more associated to Suyu and Logáu during the middle to late quiet age and the period after the thalmvar

Rubber is an ancient technology even by the middle quiet age, so it's accessible. Éldimor can make yaetil almost endlessly, but it's a slow trickle of metal so saving metal is still important and using cheaper, thinner, more disposable organic materials is helpful as it saves metal for other things

Hotlocks in õndem are similar to needlefire guns in concept. But not in ignition. As you can keep a needle magically red hot, all these would be doing is jamming a spring loaded, red hot needle into a cartridge of paper, wool, intestine, leather, etc. to ignite a propellant via heat. Weird, works.

Some rough sketches to get my micro hyperobsession with 19th century needlefire guns out of my head. As they would fit into õndem well. Cartridges that need not be metal, rubber gas seals, etc. Though õndemic versions would likely be similar to matchlocks, let me elaborate a bit here:
