Broome really was a repentant murder and agreed to fund a tower to be built. He also asked to be buried standing up beneath the doorway so that the congregation stood on his head each time they entered. A door mat now covers a stone slab with his name on. #littleadventures26

The history of the church h has murder in its annals. During 15th century Lord of the manor Nicholas Broome committed two murders. One in revenge for his father’s murder and the other a man taking advantage of his wife. The church is full of evidence of his penance #littleadventures26

On our way yesterday we stopped at a new house for me. Before we went round we explored the medieval church next to the hall. St Michael’s church is a Grade II building originally dedicated to St James records show a church on the site from 1305 #littleadventures26 Baddesley Clinton

The gardens are arranged into ‘rooms’ and include Exotic, Theatre, Pompeian, Walled kitchen, Italian & Mediterranean. Although little colour as you wander you can see from the different trees and plants that in he right season, it will be fabulous Dyffryn Gardens #littleadventures26
