Tolkien: Too many hobbits. Also Bingo Bolger-Baggins a bad name. Let Bingo = Frodo. [Frodo struck out] No - I am now too used to Bingo.

The exiled realms of the north; I’d love to see Arvedui’s story, wars with Angmar and the Witch-King, more Círdan, more Glorfindel. Also the tale of The Children of Húrin.

Today’s haul. I think the next few days will be big tom picking days. Green gage plums suddenly ripened overnight. The single jalapeño is probably picked slightly too early due to excitement.

Yep, I think pasta sauce is a great way of preserving. First batch was roasted toms, onion, garlic and fresh basil.

Moments of respite with new strangers and friends; generally with fireside accounts of recent happenings and counsel, a meal, sometimes a pause from immediate danger, and a replenishment of supplies before the journey forward.

Stardew Valley era. Some of the daily harvest hauls this week. Zucchinis are starting to slow down (thank goodness). Carrots are being roasted daily with honey and oil. Any recipes or ideas for excess tomatoes?

I have an abundance of garden tomatoes that will pair well with that

Atm: Finishing Silm read from late last year and continuing with Book of Lost Tales1&2. Morgoth’s Ring and Peoples are already a permanent fixture to my bedside table this year 😆 Yearly read of LotR, this time alongside the HoM-e volumes. NoM-e because new paperback and have only read sections.

I’ve been terrible at engaging on posts because of the ux. Algorithm is a bit off unless I follow starter packs - compared to Threads my algorithm was amazing for awesome chats. Felt very much like “Strangers from distant lands, friends of old: you've been summoned here” at all times 😂

Such a great passage and scene. When the shadow comes back over my heart sinks, but we know the shadow is only a passing thing.

Commencing a sourdough journey tomorrow (thanks to a holiday gift and watching Tolkien acquaintances consistently bake bread) I was quite set on the name for my starter, but I have thought of another. Help me decide, and I will hold your loaf fulfilled. 1. Flourfindelë 2. Isildur’s Grain

I loved reading this Emma! Re: cozy vibes and “the most warm and delicious light” at the Cottage - I am always reminded of the feeling our four beloved hobbits have when approaching the house of Tom Bombadil for the first time ✨

I have! However, cover to cover has been a while. I tend to just reach for sections within HoM-e to read.

Ive seen and commented on a post, that now with this new information he was clearly seeking validation and sympathy from the Tolkien threads crew that he had entered into. Feels gross. I’m sorry you had this experience.

I enjoy the beginning of TT too. A standout chapter is The White Rider. However nothing tops a back to back reading of Many Meetings and The Council of Elrond. Honourable shoutout to chapters iv-vi in TT. The weight of the story is growing heavy and I appreciate the moments of respite in Ithilien.

Also torn, because although Silm makes me feel lots of big feelings, I also think I am an OG LOTR girlie too. It’s my favourite book, I reach for quotes and inspo from characters all the time, every time Frodo speaks to Sam I feel like he’s speaking to me… the list goes on

What ideas do you have? Symbols, images, or quotes/words? Maybe some Tengwar script? I have Bag End, a heraldic device, and this week getting weaponry.

I also feel so torn between fighting and giving it up to be overrun. Losing TT, IG and Threads all at once has been a bit to process because I finally branched out and found a community which I don’t have living remote. I need to consider doing whatever is right tho. I will follow where they go ✨

gloomweaver @thegloomweaver.bsky.social · 12/01/2025

For me, Threads is easier to give up if I’m able to reconnect with Tolkien friends in this app. IG however…. I love the Tolkien content, but there are other circles on my personal account, it is my default messenger, and the task of ensuring I don’t lost mmrs feels like a mammoth task.
