#Vientiane: 1,063 people were killed or injured by cluster munitions in 2025. At the Cluster Munition Convention Review Conference in Lao PDR, we supported a side event on risk education. The progress is real, but we need more sustainable funding & EORE champions.

Cluster munitions leave unexploded remnants that can act as landmines, killing and maiming long after conflict ends. Next week in Vientiane, the Convention on Cluster Munitions #CCM 3rd Review Conference will adopt a new 5-year action plan. Look out for our delegation!

Over 2 days, our almost-100-strong team came together for our GICHD staff retreat. Colleagues stepped away from the day-to-day, shared experiences, results, aligned on our 2027 priorities and put our values into practice. A huge thanks to everyone at GICHD for their hard work.

Last week, we facilitated a visit for Ukrainian authorities to Germany & the Netherlands to exchange expertise on underwater explosive ordnance. With ~14,000 km² of Ukrainian waters contaminated, this cooperation is vital to safer navigation, humanitarian access & recovery.

#Ukraine: for the 1st time our IMSMA Core Administrator Course was delivered at State Emergency Service of Ukraine Lviv State University of Life Safety. IMSMA topics were added to curriculum across SESU educational institutions. Lecturers can now use course materials to develop this content further.
