I earned the first Alliance Ring in the Wardens of the Eastern Marches at #GameholeCon! This also means that Baern is a Major in the Sovereign Military Order of Asura (soon to be Captain)!

The last game of the day was Ezra & Nehemiah. We all were competing to rebuild Jerusalem, teach Torah, and furnish and supply the temple. I really liked the game, although I'm hesitant on the theme because I don't know if there is lurking anti-Semitism.

Marvel United was fun! It was a staged game where we fought each of the Phoenix Five in order, each progressively stronger than the last. After each villain, we could change up our hero. It was a fun game and pretty simple. It doesn't dethrone my top superhero game though.

Valor & Villainy: Lludwik's Labyrinth was pretty fun! It's a cooperative, dice chucking, dungeon crawler, and it does that well. It has a "quirky" fantasy theme though and I find that tiresome these days, so it's not something I'd buy myself, although I would play.

Wow! Star Wars: The Clone Wars was much better than I expected going into it. It really felt like being a Jedi leading a squad of troopers against droid armies led by classic villains. It's also pretty fast - we played twice in two hour slot!

Last Light was good! It's probably my favorite take on the space 4x genre. Most of the action is simultaneous, so it plays pretty fast. I did fairly well, but went too slow setting up and the GM made a rule change to speed things up that really hurt that. Good game though!

The last game of the night was Yspahan, which was a fairly nice, simple game after a day of some games that really left my brain drained. I ended up scoring a ton by controlling different districts in the city!

John Company was that white whale that I've been wanting to play for a long, long time. It was good, although I got bogged down with how much was going on. I ended up as a highly successful Prime Minister, although not enough to ultimately win!

Mahjong was next! The organizer ran a version that I was not personally familiar with - a Chinese version that scored due everyone, but just for the person who went out. It was cool, but I already like the game, so nothing new but new rules!

Wow! Hegemony was amazing! It nails the theme of being different parts of society so we'll. I played the working class and the pressures of affording healthcare and education were just baked in.

The last game of the night was Ecos: The First Continent, where you work to make a planet. It has a lot of simultaneous play (which is great for high player counts), but also a lot of depth. I'd definitely play it again.

So, Votes for Women is not a cooperative game like. We played 1v1 with me playing the Opposition (so aiming to stop women from voting). We ended up going to time, but we were pretty sure that I would win in the end. I really liked this game and would play it again! The art was phenomenal!

Shadows: Heroes & Monsters surprised me with how good it was! It's a hero builder where you're both fighting each other and a central monster. It has some interesting bluffing elements. The designer is working on a second edition and I think that more polish could make it really excellent!

I stopped at the booth for my favorite gaming store - I'm Board - and ordered my copy of Scout to pick up later. I also did a quick walk around, where I saw some humorous wooden signs - see picture!

Third game of the day was Apiary! I had a blast with this! I'm stoked to play it again. You have worker bees that age up as they work more, eventually hibernating in that great comb in the sky. Every game will be very different based on the tiles you can add to your beehive spaceship!

Renature only took us an hour, so the GM also taught us Scout! It's a shedding and climbing game where you can't rearrange your hand and the cards have two different values. Good fun! I'm going to buy this game as a quick simple game.

Renature was fun! The area control portion is about placing plants in areas next to where you play your animal dominoes - but there's a big twist. If you tie with someone, your pieces don't count at all! Blew my mind!
