Does this mean our effective sales tax rate will not be a multiple of 0.05%? I hate this so much

Marko Liias has made it clear (on this platform) that he personally doesn't believe in passenger ferries. So at this point, he's the main reason.

I don't regret leaving my house today for this.

Kinda sounds like Sayles actually wants this job?

Op-Ed: The $10 Billion Question Sound Transit Has Never Asked
Elevating the next light rail line through Downtown Seattle could save $10 billion, more than enough to close Sound Transit’s systemwide budget hole and get rail to Ballard much sooner. There’s just one problem: The agency has never officially studied the idea. It’s high time.

The article addresses this!

It was literally in her campaign, she's always been pro-sweeps.

I guess I'll start: ✅West Seattle not actually shovel ready ✅West Seattle delayed past 2032 ✅New lies told (procedural, about fare gates) ✅Graham St killed again How long does Dave Somers think Everett Link has left?

David Scott @thefirstdude02.bsky.social · 14/08/2026
So what will happen in the 2029 realignment? Will you finally stop lying to yourselves and to voters, or will you find new things to lie about? What will you kill next? Everett? Issaquah? Graham St… again?

David Scott @thefirstdude02.bsky.social · 14/08/2026
West Seattle is NOT shovel ready. As much as I want it to, it WILL NOT open to riders in 2032. The Enterprise Initiative IS just another farcical realignment. Today, Ballard Link, Boeing Access Road station, DuPont Sounder, and the Sounder N Line all die. ST3 dies today.

I'm just gonna post my public comment from the May 28 Sound Transit board meeting. That day, on record, I said these words to the full set of 18 board members. How has this aged? You tell me. 🧵

Much of the rhetoric around not delaying the vote was *to protect* opening dates - if those dates were never based in reality, why the rush?

I've been saying for years: make Magnolia accept at least 10,000 units on Ft Lawton in exchange for rebuilding their stupid bridge Someone smarter than me can figure out how to make the finances work out

I was gonna say, yeah all 7 seats will be up for election next year but at least one won't be held by the same person as Juarez goes back into retirement

This line of thinking is completely unaligned with the reality of how FTA processes work (or don't, under the current admin). We've discussed this before, and I'm increasingly frustrated and disappointed in your angle on this issue. Why are you going out of your way to undermine activists?

At long last they've finally restored the 2 to ETB service. The 12 is up next (both routes lost electric service for the duration of RR-G construction and then some). There's also work to reconfigure the wire from 70 for RR-J. So at their current rate, *maybe* by 2030

David Scott @thefirstdude02.bsky.social · 29/07/2026
Ah, yeah. Only the 43 runs ETBs there, and has continued to do so for the however many years it's been with that gap in the wires. I assume they'll put the wires back up there eventually, but the responsible team at Metro is ridiculously understaffed with a lot of work already scheduled

David Scott @thefirstdude02.bsky.social · 28/07/2026
Are you talking about the 43?

David Scott @thefirstdude02.bsky.social · 28/07/2026
So I guess we'll just have to see which project gets the fleet expansion attributed to it. My guess is it'll end up being RR-R. That said, I'd be surprised if Metro is excited about pursuing new vendors when they could just keep the fleet homogenous and get more New Flyers.

David Scott @thefirstdude02.bsky.social · 28/07/2026
I guess it's sort of fuzzy. The RR-R on its own won't require expanding the fleet of bendyboi ETBs but will re-wrap some of them, just like RR-J. However, route 48 is slated to be electrified also by 2032, and that will require expanding the same fleet.

Why the fuck would Carmen expect to be represented by someone whose district does not include her city when 2 other board members (Fain, Zahilay) literally do and 2 more (McLeod, Prince) are closer than Claudia's district?

"shovel ready" is a specific term of art with a specific definition. I guess you can just change that definition to be whatever you want, but doing so is highly misleading.

What I find most impressive is that Trevor wrote this article and you published it all within the time since ST first promised to publish the amendments to the resolution (last Friday), and they still haven't done that.

Not that it matters but it was MLK not 23rd (technically we started already on the east side of 23rd)

Graham St is tricky, we need to figure out the right strategy for it. Currently ST lumps it together with Boeing Access Rd / E Marginal Way Station, and we need to be clear that Graham St is a critical link for a major community while BAR/EMW station is...not.

It really warms my heart to see so many people so excited to hold up my signs! I'm definitely not a graphic designer but I think they turned out well. If anyone wants some, reach out to me, let's talk!

I would argue that all three are good outcomes, but Sound Transit will certainly need to make some bold moves to benefit practically

Thanks Jason! I'm working on a more serious presentation to hopefully get the Seattle contingent of the ST Board interested, but our proposal is to run elevated all the way through downtown, SLU, and Seattle Center to Interbay. In theory this should cut the construction costs in half.

'26, unfortunately. I started this (small) trolleybus campaign because I thought that timeline was completely absurd for restoring one block of wire.

Unfortunately no, that's unrelated (KCM's responsibility) --- but should be fixed soon!

I'll claim a bit of credit for some Seattle Subway advocacy on this 😀 The 2 was already going to be re-electrified in the spring. Hopefully this is enough to fix the 12 too, and *finally* do the 48!
