This is what the theater has done, what the producer and tech director are still actively running from, and what I was expected to keep quiet and secret from the cast, crew, and public by the rest of the production team.

Watching the Firebird Theatre pretend that everything is fine and business as usual as they're crumbling from the inside and there is public, documented ableism that they'll only publicly address in reaction and once their show run is over is actually physically revolting

I am so sorry to everyone. I thought I was helping promote accessibility in theater. I thought I was doing good. After the ableism I saw from those in charge, I wish all I genuinely believed before about this theater was true. It's not. And I'm sorry for misleading you all.

Apologies to all those looking forward to the showing tonight, there were emergency issues regarding our crew and we had to cancel our show this evening. We are still planning on our show tomorrow at the regular time, and we hope to see you all then!

I've been informed that people have already started lining up at the theatre for tonight's show. Guys it's just shy of 6 hours from now, I love the enthusiasm, but holy hell...

The Firebird Theatre promotes accessibility in stagecraft. But it's more than disability, like my case, it's location as well. For those who cannot get to NA data servers or wouldn't be awake during our performances, we have streams on youtube and twitch! www.twitch.tv/thefirebirdt...

Fun Fact: Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, author of Sherlock Holmes, was a staunch second-wave spiritualist. He was devout to the point where he destroyed his friendship with illusionist Harry Houdini and is a speculative culprit in the Piltdown Man hoax. He might be upset to know he's remembered for Holmes

The Firebird Theater is excited to announce: 🔍Sherlock Holmes: A Scandal in Aldenard!🔍 We have 9 performances between 5/18 and 6/1, all conveniently before Dawntrail maintenance The theater is located at Aether-Faerie-Empyreum-Ward 6-Plot 60, it is advised you arrive early.

Sherlock looks nonplussed at his companion, Watson, who does not share the calm demeanor. Watson is at least mildly panicked, pointing at a portrait hanging behind Sherlock's desk, which features a stately Ala Mhigan man and an enigmatic woman, Irene Adler.

To say that our cast, crew, and alum are celebrating the new privacy features is an understatement! We have been fortunate to not have this issue yet, but in the future, we look forward to being prepared for any malicious interruption to the show being dealt with quickly and quietly!

My favorite fun fact so far: When you see live theater and experience a show, your heartbeat and breathing sync with the rest of the audience No word on virtual theater yet, but I think lag plays a role Source: www.ucl.ac.uk/pals/news/20...

Sooooooo I don't have the exact dates for Sherlock Holmes yet, but I know with absolute certainty this much: All performances will take place before the early release of Dawntrail. Like theatre? Looking for something to do before all the new content? Stay tuned, we should drop our dates soon!

How about we reverse that last *wolqotd* What plays, musicals, movies, whatever could you see translating to Eorzean media well? Or what would be most hilarious to see in the world of Hydaelyn in FFXIV?

040

The Firebird Theatre @thefirebirdtheatre.bsky.social · 21/02/2024

Another fun fact! While Sherlock Holmes is well known, he's not the very first literary detective. He was inspired by C. Auguste Dupin, who made his first appearance in Edgar Allen Poe's "The Murders in the Rue Morgue" in 1841. This was before the term "detective" existed.

Illustration by Byam Shaw for a London edition dated 1909 with caption "The sailor's face flushed up; he started to his feet and grasped his cudgel".
Dupin questions the sailor about the murders in the Rue Morgue. He stands dignified and casual, warm smoking jacket wrapped around him and cigar in his hand, looking down his nose through his pince nez glasses at the sailor across the table. The balding sailor has his back to the viewer, bursting from his chair with a firm yet slender cudgel ready to swing.

FUN (cursed?) FACT! Given the time of Sherlock Holmes, Dr. Watson could have been colleagues with Dr. Robert Liston. He was the fastest surgeon pre-anesthetic, was the first to utilize ether for patient pain management, and is the only surgeon with a 300% mortality rate for 1 procedure!

Robert Liston, a white, prematurely balding man with massive brown mutton chops, is painted in a dark overcoat, olive suit, and tartan scarf. He looks far more serene and humble than he probably ever was in his entire life.
