The Endurance Physio @theendurancephysio.bsky.social · 16hRecently, and rightly so, many of the leading voices on social media within therapy have criticised the use of car related analogies for the human body, as we try to get away from the belief of the body being mechanical or machine like and replacing this with a more ecosystem type approach. 1/ 100
The Endurance Physio @theendurancephysio.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Crazy couple of weeks with lots of athletes preparing for their biggest events of 2026. This meant even more contact and comms around energy and fatigue and necessary micro adjustments to training and preparation where needed based on feedback. 1/3 100
The Endurance Physio @theendurancephysio.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Far too many athletes end up in my clinic for a 2nd opinion where the glaring issue has been under dosed and overly conservative rehab to date. This fits with many conversations I have with therapists when I teach who report a crippling fear of pushing an athlete too hard, 1/ 100
The Endurance Physio @theendurancephysio.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Is it time your training / rehab focussed on the things we don’t want to do more than the things we do? Here’s some thoughts on having a “not to do” list ……🎬 001
The Endurance Physio @theendurancephysio.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Repost: This weekend whilst playing board games with the kids I realised that rehab can often be like a game of snakes and ladders. People are desperate to roll that dice , hit that 6 and fly up the biggest ladder on the board. 1/ 102
The Endurance Physio @theendurancephysio.bsky.social · 29/09/2026I’m frequently asked to share my treatment protocols or plans by people who assume I treat the most regular injuries I see exactly the same way everytime. That’s not how good rehab looks. Here’s some thoughts 🎬🤔 www.facebook.com/share/v/1DFd...facebook.comFacebook 000

The Endurance Physio @theendurancephysio.bsky.social · 28/09/2026For many triathletes an off season swim video analysis and technique assessment is a staple, or is touted as the answer to “this years problems” and “next years solution”. 1/ 100
The Endurance Physio @theendurancephysio.bsky.social · 27/09/2026What a great Q that I was asked today by someone just finishing their first season in triathlon. It sounds obvious to work on your weakest discipline. But your weakest split isn’t necessarily where your next hour of training will buy you the most race time. 1/ 200
The Endurance Physio @theendurancephysio.bsky.social · 27/09/2026The most dangerous part of a half marathon……🎬 000
The Endurance Physio @theendurancephysio.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Congrats to all our coached athletes this weekend, big performances in Berlin, Lake District, Pontevedra, & Anglesey across Marathon, Ultra & Tri events. The Endurance Physio @theendurancephysio.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Things not been going as planned? Suddenly the work/life commitments, pain/injury or time pressures ease up, and it’s time to make up for lost time…… This is a time that needs to managed sensibly and carefully with a focus most certainly fixed on the long term > short term. 1/2 210
The Endurance Physio @theendurancephysio.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Here’s a fun and novel session that adds a little controlled chaos into an off season easy long session. Pick a podcast, pick some key words (maybe 1-3 max) based on likely words that will be commonly used. 1/ 100
The Endurance Physio @theendurancephysio.bsky.social · 26/09/2026For decades, runners and coaches have lived by “rules” or guides for weekly run volume such as the 10% rule. “Don’t increase your weekly mileage by more than 10%.” 1/ 100
The Endurance Physio @theendurancephysio.bsky.social · 26/09/2026Finish a marathon and nobody questions a few days off. Get ill and people rightly tell you to take it easy. But wake up on an ordinary Tuesday feeling tired, with a busy day ahead, and decide to miss a session? That can feel strangely difficult. 1/ 100
The Endurance Physio @theendurancephysio.bsky.social · 26/09/2026Whether you are trying to see changes in training or rehab they take time. Stop expecting immediate results, be patient and create long term sustainable change. This starts with making very realistic and achievable goals that you can be successful with, 1/2 100
The Endurance Physio @theendurancephysio.bsky.social · 26/09/2026Here’s a great little upper body / shoulder banded exercise for swimmers and triathletes. Lots of bang for your buck 💪 000
The Endurance Physio @theendurancephysio.bsky.social · 25/09/2026Tendon issues are really common in endurance sports. But I believe they hang around much longer than they need to in some athletes because we manage them sub optimally. Key take homes: Rest isn’t rehab. Make sure to load enough, for long enough. There’s no single magic way to do this. 111
The Endurance Physio @theendurancephysio.bsky.social · 25/09/2026Had multiple people ask me this since yesterday’s post regarding rescanning a BSI. In short, it’s about the potential severity of consequences. 1/ 100
The Endurance Physio @theendurancephysio.bsky.social · 25/09/2026I must have been asked 100 times about my opinion on the much publicised events at Hyrox recently. I’m firmly with the majority who believe the organisers and athlete should have both taken responsibility and stopped due to the biohazard risk. 1/ 100
The Endurance Physio @theendurancephysio.bsky.social · 24/09/2026NEW YORK — LAST CALL.🇺🇸 I’ve probably told you enough about the course by now. 😂 So I’ll keep this one simple. If you work with runners, want to become better at assessing, understanding training, managing injury & getting them back to the things that matter to them… this is for you 1/ 100
The Endurance Physio @theendurancephysio.bsky.social · 24/09/2026What a great question I was asked today but an athlete I’ve recently started working with. They contacted me following a recent diagnosis of a lower limb bone stress injury, confirmed on imaging and currently undertaking a period on non impact work and rehab. 1/ 210
The Endurance Physio @theendurancephysio.bsky.social · 24/09/2026There was a time when running a marathon for example was regarded as an extraordinary achievement. Then came the ultra, then 100 miles, then multiple ultras, then a marathon a day. Eventually it’s become running across countries & continents. Ever bigger. Ever longer. Ever more extreme. 1/ 100
The Endurance Physio @theendurancephysio.bsky.social · 23/09/2026We need to redefine coaching. In a world where any man and his dog seem to be able to start offering coaching services, we need to demonstrate what good coaching looks, smells and feels like. 1/ 100
The Endurance Physio @theendurancephysio.bsky.social · 23/09/2026IF YOU WORK WITH RUNNERS… THIS IS FOR YOU. Physical therapist? Physiotherapist? Athletic trainer? Sports therapist? S&C coach? Rehab professional? …..This course was built for you. Not just for clinicians working with elite athletes. 1/ 100
The Endurance Physio @theendurancephysio.bsky.social · 23/09/2026I was asked this week during a webinar to a triathlon club, what things to work on over the winter for their swimming. Although the answer depends on the individual, I mentioned that something I often see neglected is speed endurance. 1/ 100

The Endurance Physio @theendurancephysio.bsky.social · 21/09/2026Sometimes us endurance athletes can be emotional old things that dig ourselves into holes that occasionally we end up regretting. I often see this scenario occur when races go really well, or completely fall apart. 1/ 100
The Endurance Physio @theendurancephysio.bsky.social · 21/09/2026I’ve talked lots about the huge effort: outcome return of simply ⬆️ technical skills and handling on the bike for triathletes. One way to do this is to transition to mountain biking through the winter. 1/2 102
The Endurance Physio @theendurancephysio.bsky.social · 20/09/2026For years I’ve been like a stuck record talking about overtraining, under-recovery and the importance of rest. But I think there is another conversation worth having in recent times, are athletes becoming too obsessed with recovery? 1/ 100
The Endurance Physio @theendurancephysio.bsky.social · 20/09/2026In a world where we continue to overcomplicate exercise unnecessarily, don’t forget the good old fashioned single leg side step down. Great for Lower limb strength and rehab for most lower limb conditions. Can be done anywhere there’s a step or stair. Less is so much more. 000
The Endurance Physio @theendurancephysio.bsky.social · 20/09/2026It’s that time of year when many endurance athletes are winding down their seasons and thinking of what they need to do to improve next year. The Endurance Physio @theendurancephysio.bsky.social · 19/09/2026Following yesterday’s leg length post, I’ve had quite a few messages asking to explain more. 🎬 When 2+2=5. Observations during an assessment are often just that. Be careful of these being linked or attributed as the primary cause of a problem. Often they are nothing to do with it. 000
The Endurance Physio @theendurancephysio.bsky.social · 19/09/2026A runner walks into your clinic with pain. You can test their strength, watch them run, look at their training and assess the painful tissue. But then comes the difficult bit…Which findings actually matter? 1/4 100
The Endurance Physio @theendurancephysio.bsky.social · 18/09/2026The most underrated ingredient in rehab? PATIENCE. Sometimes you just need to give the right plan time to work. Stop bouncing from treatment / therapist when progress feels slow. Every time you change direction, you may restart the clock. Rehab isn’t always quick. Progress isn’t always linear. 000
The Endurance Physio @theendurancephysio.bsky.social · 18/09/2026As a lot of people’s summer racing seasons start to come to an end, the inevitable question appears “What next?” For some, that quickly becomes “How do I hold onto this fitness?” and that’s where athletes can get themselves into trouble. 1/ 100

The Endurance Physio @theendurancephysio.bsky.social · 15/09/2026One of the problems we have in running (or any endurance sport) injury management is our constant search for the thing that caused the injury. Weak glutes, poor mechanics, flexibility, over pronation, shoe type and choice, cadence, strength, total volume to name but a few are often blamed. 1/ 100
