I have. I'm still trying to decide on this last season. I mean, it's good. I'm just not sure if it's AS good. One of the problems with mystery box shows is how when the mysteries are explained they just become shows.

Don't get me wrong: There are episodes of things I don't like. Turnabout Intruder. Into Darkness. Code of Honour. That Discovery episode with the turbolift fight. The entire Burn storyline. The back and forth with Klingons. But like it or not, things ARE that way canonically. We don't get a say.

Well, "Those Old Scientists" wasn't a LDS episode though. It was a SNW episode. But the thing is, it doesn't matter what fans do or don't consider canon. Canon is a thing decided by the owners of the franchise, and they said it is, so it is. That's what "canon" means. They have the last word.

One could also reasonably guess that the "differences" are the perspective of the main characters. "Those Old Scientists" hinted at this, in that LDS looked animated because Mariner and Boimler were always drinking hallucinogenic Orion booze.

Agreed. As well as every other time travel. "Yesterday's Enterprise" and "Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow" both show this. Also those timelines are spaghetti because... consider, First Contact also takes place in the past of the Kelvin timeline. As does City on the Edge of Forever. How?

I had no problem with the inclusivity but I think that both using a trill to do it (thereby making trans an alien thing and thus dehumanising) and having a human "just work as a trill host after all" (thereby invalidating lots of canon) were both missteps of different sorts.

In early Disco, I liked "Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum" because it had that whole "exploring strange new worlds" thing. I thought the whole "Su'Kal" bit was stupid. The combo of a psychic kid causing a catastrophe plus "we're here now to save the day" was just crap writing IMNSHO.
