Finished Shadow & Claw by Gene Wolfe a few days ago and like yes, everything everyone says abt it is true. Been so long since I’ve read a fantasy book that was such a slam dunk on basically every formal level. The specific thing the book is doing masterfully changes on a scene to scene basis.

Coconino county is one of my favorite locations in all of comics. Madcap and amorphous. One of my fav things Herriman does is completely change the background scenery between every panel, even when we're supposed to be looking at the same vista.
