Kayli Mills (but real) @thedonutgremlin.bsky.social · 12/09/2026I redid a cover for 9 years ago to see how much I've grown! Rola's vocal style is so beautiful and difficult to emulate, and I really learned a lot as a vocalist in general doing a deep dive on her singing style. I love knowing I can always grow and improve. 💙🌸 1233
Kayli Mills (but real) @thedonutgremlin.bsky.social · 29/08/2026"I was appreciating serenity... what is your suggestion that I do instead?" Over the moon and stars to be the English voice of Ninae in Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave!!! Huge thanks to Nintendo, @cupofteaprod.bsky.social and @christianlamonte.bsky.social for bringing me on this brilliant journey. 67615

Kayli Mills (but real) @thedonutgremlin.bsky.social · 19/08/2026I can see that. I’m just trying to understand their perspective and give them a hypothetical chance to understand what they’re doing. 020
Kayli Mills (but real) @thedonutgremlin.bsky.social · 19/08/2026I still think that’s more on the corpo that will do that either way, but I do understand your perspective. 110
Kayli Mills (but real) @thedonutgremlin.bsky.social · 17/08/2026I don’t like AI performances ever being used in games BUT if the actors consented to it and everything is above board, I can’t say I agree that they deserve to be blackballed. 3100

Kayli Mills (but real) @thedonutgremlin.bsky.social · 09/07/2026I believe in most cases, people deserve to learn from their mistakes and get a second chance. Aside from heinous crimes of course. If you destroy someone’s life and can’t make it right, you deserve the same. But if you don’t believe in second chances at all, why? 1361

Kayli Mills (but real) @thedonutgremlin.bsky.social · 01/06/2026I love cats so much man. What do you mean I get to just have little guys walkin’ around my house that like to cuddle??? 4955
Kayli Mills (but real) @thedonutgremlin.bsky.social · 31/05/2026If you don’t feel ready, that’s alright to do. You will probably be training your whole life to some extent though, that’s just being an actor. 020
Kayli Mills (but real) @thedonutgremlin.bsky.social · 31/05/2026It’s a different time now, and it’s going to be hard to truly protect yourself. The next best thing you can do is completely read through your contracts and not sign anything that doesn’t give full AI protections. If they don’t include them, I highly recommend suggesting the @navavoices.org AI rider 030
Kayli Mills (but real) @thedonutgremlin.bsky.social · 31/05/2026Voice Acting Club is a great resource. A good demo producer will write copy for you. My only demo that uses existing characters is my anime reel which is a very niche reel and not required. The best way to protect yourself is to not work non-union but that’s unlikely to be an option starting out 130
Kayli Mills (but real) @thedonutgremlin.bsky.social · 31/05/2026Online classes and the few local classes available were very helpful. 140
Kayli Mills (but real) @thedonutgremlin.bsky.social · 31/05/2026Ahhh, yes. That’s tough because you need yo physically move and block in theater. If there’s a community theater close by, I’d start there, but you can learn a lot of acting just through zoom classes. It doesn’t have to be theater specifically. I wasn’t really able to do theater since I moved a lot. 140
Kayli Mills (but real) @thedonutgremlin.bsky.social · 31/05/2026There are so many classes that are remote now! Almost all classes I’ve taken in the past 6 years have been remote, even though I live in a hub. 140
Kayli Mills (but real) @thedonutgremlin.bsky.social · 31/05/2026It’s never too late! I truly believe that. 010
Kayli Mills (but real) @thedonutgremlin.bsky.social · 30/05/2026I have! A couple scenes from March Comes in Like a Lion for sure. Particularly a 2 minute non-stop crying scene that was all to picture. 140
Kayli Mills (but real) @thedonutgremlin.bsky.social · 30/05/2026Find demos you like the sound of and ask who produced them~ Working with a pro who can help you craft a reel that shows off your skill makes a big difference. 020
Kayli Mills (but real) @thedonutgremlin.bsky.social · 30/05/2026Because I already have a relationship with them. I wish everyone with a proper setup was given the same option. 040
Kayli Mills (but real) @thedonutgremlin.bsky.social · 30/05/2026I totally get that. I honestly thought after the pandemic studios would be more open to continuing remote recording, but unfortunately many are back to in-person only. It’s not ALL. But it’s too many imo. I’m still able to work remotely with most studios on bad health days, but that is likely 160
Kayli Mills (but real) @thedonutgremlin.bsky.social · 30/05/2026Audacity is great. Reaper is amazing and free if you aren’t making money with it. For auditions and sending work in, nothing. For personal projects, you can play with noise suppression, EQ and compression. 020
Kayli Mills (but real) @thedonutgremlin.bsky.social · 30/05/2026I have struggled with all of these! What personal helps some: -always staying hydrated -sleeping with a humidifier -allergy nasal spray -netting pot every other night or so to help with post-nasal drip which cases inflammation. -vocal-eye throat spray for long or heavy sessions 190
Kayli Mills (but real) @thedonutgremlin.bsky.social · 30/05/2026Most of my demos are made of scenes and made up characters or from old scripts. Only my anime demo is clips from actual work I’ve done. You’ll want to work with a demo producer. A good one will know how to find or write you copy that shows off your skill. 220
Kayli Mills (but real) @thedonutgremlin.bsky.social · 30/05/2026What you’re doing now sounds like a great start! I’d also look into classes to continue to improve your skill and work towards being ready to make a demo that you can send to agencies and studios. 020
Kayli Mills (but real) @thedonutgremlin.bsky.social · 30/05/2026I’d really recommend taking classes. It’s a great place to safely experiment, learn and explore. You don’t have to decide if it’s worth doing as a career, just see if you enjoy it first. :) 020
Kayli Mills (but real) @thedonutgremlin.bsky.social · 30/05/2026Entire scenes not so much, for games I may add in an effort or word here or there, but for localized games, you can’t stray too much from what was done in the original language. 120
Kayli Mills (but real) @thedonutgremlin.bsky.social · 30/05/2026But you have to now that if you booked a role, you are there for a reason and you can do that job~ 030
Kayli Mills (but real) @thedonutgremlin.bsky.social · 30/05/2026Sometimes they just want to try something different. And false starts, misreads, voice cracks etc happen to the best of us. 120
Kayli Mills (but real) @thedonutgremlin.bsky.social · 30/05/2026Voice consistency comes from understanding your voice and where you’re placing it for a character. Vocal lessons can be great for this. If you’re working with a director, they will let you know if they’d like another take. And it doesn’t mean you’ve failed or done something wrong 130
Kayli Mills (but real) @thedonutgremlin.bsky.social · 30/05/2026Clothes in it even, and a usb mic in the $100-200 range for starters. You can upgraded as your skill does~ Take classes when you can. :) 140
