God already built a wall through Big Bend — it's called the Chisos Mountains. We don't need to give billions of our tax dollars to out of state vendors. We don't need to desecrate this sacred land. We don't need this useless, disgraceful, corrupt Big Bend border wall.

Yeah this is very common. I’m surprised by all the comments of “this is a thing?” At the hostel I worked at we didn’t have this policy and homeless people didn’t cause any problems, but I did fear for my safety on the regular b/c of local addicts and alcoholics reserving w/ us and acting volatile

Stuff like that happened weekly, was a crazy job. Usually drug or crime related issues, never homeless people. I’m not advocating for discriminatory policies; the hostel frequently helped people out, took people in. Just trying to provide extra perspective to the convo in case it could be useful

The final time he “accidentally” drunkenly climbed into the wrong bunk where a woman was sleeping and she screamed. I kinda wish we’d had a policy about not letting other people make reservations on someone else’s behalf

We had to blacklist a guest from ever staying at a hostel again because he terrorized the other guests and left without paying. Of course he then had other people call and make reservations on his behalf several more times, kept getting back in because not everyone on the staff recognized his face

The reporting in these old newspapers from late 1800s/early 1900s is so goofy. Theyre always like "grand opening of new building - it is undoubtedly THE FINEST building in the ENTIRE USA" or something political happens and theyre like "and EVERYONE UNANIMOUSLY AGREED that this is the BEST outcome" 😂

And yeah the dumb knee jerk arguments, people are frothing at the mouth to argue and willfully misunderstand you and “gotcha” you. I don’t think younger generations know that social media used to be social. They default to creating clickbait and following trends and trying to game engagement stats

There was engagement 8 months ago when I used to post regularly. I only got back on here last week and it does seem like a ghost town now. Yeah I do think social is dying, it’s mainly people trying to sell stuff and you don’t get to see your own friends and follows as much, especially on insta.

BS has the dif Feeds you can follow; I follow hiking, travel, archaeology, and vanlife feeds. But I think people arent inspired to use this app regularly. For me, after Twitter became X and I left, it was hard to care anymore about this type of platform. I tried at first but its like the ship sailed

Anybody else’s dog not a big fan of the Ruffwear harnesses? We’ve tried two different styles and I feel like they dont fit her right, and she doesnt like to put them on. Maybe she just wouldnt like any harness regardless idk. But I want to dial it in for hiking next summer and make sure she’s comfy
