www.nature.com/articles/s41... New Nature Micro paper tracks how tiny mobile DNA pieces move through microbes over 8 years of thawing at Stordalen Mire, finding ~2.1M mobility‑linked genes. In my postdoc @uio.no I use sedaDNA from lake sediments to trace past change – stay tuned for my preprint!

Mobile genetic elements shape microbial diversity and functions in thawing permafrost soils - Nature Microbiology
An 8-year soil meta-omic time series shows how mobile genetic elements shape permafrost microbial diversity and impact a range of functions, including carbon and nutrient cycling.

At #ICP2026 Come see my poster! Nr.165 I am looking at sediment cores where plants & animals have been investigated, BUT microbes got thrown out as contamination. I kept them, and asked: as an Arctic lake turned from marine to freshwater 13,000 years ago, did its microbial community follow? (1/2)

Gut microbiome alterations precede graft rejection in kidney transplantation patients
Kidney transplantation (KT) is the best treatment for end-stage kidney disease, with graft survival critically affected by the recipient's immune response. The role of the gut microbiome in modulating...

🚨 New Paper Alert! Congrats to @vhjarquind.bsky.social on his new paper revealing how host genetics, microbiomes, and hybridization shape eco-evolutionary processes in natural populations. Check it out here: [Proceedings B](royalsocietypublishing.org/doi/10.1098/...) 🎉

Eco-evolutionary dynamics of host–microbiome interactions in a natural population of closely related mouse subspecies and their hybrids | Proceedings of the Royal Society B: Biological Sciences
Closely related host species share similar symbionts, but the effects of host genetic admixture and environmental conditions on these communities remain largely unknown. We investigated the influence of host genetic admixture and environmental factors on ...
