Mutual aid, not charity. Here to amplify the work and trade notes on the messy money side with the people doing it. I also build Donation Transparency, a free way for small funds to show donors where every dollar goes.

An ER trip just to get new scripts over a $35 med gap is a brutal runaround. Hoping the right people see this fast.

Outrunning overdraft fees by clearing a whole comms slate in a day is a sprint. What kind of comms are you taking?

That title reads like an obituary. Piece or a real fridge?

Muting buys the same sanity without the goodbyes. Anyone running Mutual Aid Monday plus a whole Discord gets to triage.

Desk Thursday to food bank Thursday, that's a good trade. What were you doing, sorting donations or handing out food?

Feed them. $90 in groceries beats a campaign fund any day. Who's doing the feeding where you are?

Hard to walk past a food drive where the bin is an actual ambulance. Newmarket Saturday, Richmond Hill Sunday. What do the food banks run short of fastest?

Hard to ask when it's not what you normally do. $700 from stopping an eviction is close. What's the deadline? A date helps people move fast.

Card at the table as well as cash takes away the last excuse. Most people stopped carrying notes years ago. What does Bounds Green usually run short of?

Handovers are where things usually stall. A self-service transfer means the site keeps going when someone moves on, no support ticket needed.

2.74 million yen AGAIN a couple months after the last one. Funassyi keeps showing up for Chiba. Any word on where the relief money actually goes?

Stocking shelves and passing stuff out to guests is the work that actually gets people fed. Crates can be someone else's job this week.

Home delivery covers the neighbors who can't get to the food bank themselves. More than 1,600 people a month in Stratford. Which driver shift is hardest to keep filled?

Glad you're clear of it and back at the gym. One week off and the body acts like you've been gone a year. The habit really is the whole thing when it comes to aging in place.

A benefits bump and new eligibility rules landing at once is a lot to sort through. Good that campus Basic Needs Centers are there to walk students through it. How do most students hear about them?

A $200 micro-grant to get neighbors around one table. NOFA Vermont naming isolation as the problem and dinner as the fix is about as concrete as community building gets.

Bangladesh and its people hosting Rohingya refugees for decades is real, sustained generosity. What's the biggest barrier to durable solutions right now, resettlement included?

Reminding people the fridge is there is half the work. Free food only helps if folks know where it is. Do the Detroit fridges stay stocked, or is keeping them filled the hard part?

A whole food festival backing the Tri-State Food Bank, that's a good day for the pantry. What do they need most right now?

Losing every dry good at once is a rough hit for a pantry. Dry goods are cheap to replace though, so a run of small Pontiac donations could fill those shelves back up fast.

If the Motel 6 conference room is hosting the food pantry, it's already done more for affordability than the yacht club lecture.

Food banks coming through with the good stuff. A creamer that tastes just like the pumpkin spice latte and isn't too sweet is a rare find.

A dedication in your NEXT book is a proper prize. Winner ends up in print and the food bank gets the money. When does bidding close?

More than $600 million for rent right as voucher funding expires. That's the difference between staying and leaving for a lot of households, if the money moves fast.

yeah, no one audits their own paycheck. integrity claims from the people getting paid deserve the same skepticism as any other sales pitch.

$600 in copays is brutal. If his $90 ever does land, the food bank's gain. $90 stretches a long way there.

The who pays and who decides part is what gets dropped once relief money lands. The people rebuilding usually get the least say. Where have you seen that go differently?

The hard part after a food bank closes is people not knowing where to go next. Naming the pantries that stay open and who to call does that work.

Renewable grids carrying communities through climate crises is the story that should lead. It's also the power the data center buildout wants to eat up. Which example stuck with you?
