I’m learning that the activism in Seattle is performative. It seems transplants from red states are taking the threats and such seriously but can’t convince others to. It’s disheartening. I feel like I’m screaming into a void.

Apparently they can’t. The US government used to own the airfield, and they kept some clause to be able to use it for any purposes forever. That’s what I heard, I haven’t looked into it further.

I understand this is an anti-car post, but highways are not pedestrian friendly. This is not the same as too many cars on city streets hitting people, where people are expected to be. City street speed limits are such to prevent this. Highway speed limits are not. Because it’s a highway.

Hmm so #seattle has a #chiefofpolice who doesn’t have his main residence in the city in which he works and is gone on the weekends. Either he isn’t capable of doing his job, or his narrative that Seattle is unsafe is false & he feels comfortable leaving on the weekends. Halfway across the country.

For sure, we moved to Seattle nearly 3 years ago because the place we moved from was deeply, deeply conservative and it was dangerous. If only we’d been able to move sooner!

Oh goodness! West Seattle doesn’t have light rail, and even when it does (in 40 years) I’m still not going to be close to it. Rapid C for me lol 45 minutes to get 8.5 miles 🫠 could drive and be there in 20 but it’s not worth the stress.

Teslas are a problem, people should be more socially conscious here than to drive a car from a company owned by a white supremacist. It’s one thing if you’re stuck with it, but when I see a Tesla with dealer tags, I assume the person is a fascist.

Yeah we drive to go hiking on the weekends and to haul our camper trailer but I don’t drive, my husband does 🤣 The only thing that drives me crazy is how unreliable my bus is 🫤

Yessss. I get to sit on the bus and look at the beautiful mountains and the sound! And watch the drivers getting frustrated. Also, the amount of people I see on cell phones while they’re driving? Horrifying. Driving is stressful.
