Roblox’s new ‘hybrid architecture’ overlays games with photorealism
Roblox has unveiled a new “hybrid” system, designed to “democratise” creation by overlaying photorealistic visuals onto a game. In an announcement on April 29, Roblox Reality was unveiled as a blend of systems which transformed a game from its original state into “breathtaking realism” and “dynamic environments”. In a statement, Roblox’s senior vice president of engineering, Anupam Singh, said the system would “empower creators of all sizes” to access unprecedented visual fidelity and motion, on top of traditional persistence and structure - without increasing development costs or time.
