Biggest surprise of the night was Ferris being sensible about the high contact by O'Conor

Fatalism followed by optimism followed by excitement followed by fear followed by relief. Welcome to the new Edinburgb Rugby season

Agreed as long as it ain't Edinburgh getting the shellacking

Sandy Smith @theburghwatch.bsky.social · 25/08/2026

Just finished after watching on a bit of a delay. What a game. Makes me feel a little better about Edinburgh getting hit for 50+ the last two times they've been there

I'm sick to the back teeth of the constant commentary from broadcasters because England got knocked out of the World Cup. So tedious. England could play Argentina at tiddleywinks and it'd be mentioned. Have some dignity ffs

Sandy Smith @theburghwatch.bsky.social · 18/07/2026

Scot v Fiji has to have been the most boring 30 minutes of the Nations championship to date. Dull v duller.

Well done Scotland U20s. A hard fought win today and a great 5th place finish in the competition. OBL was superb throughout. Well impressed by Christian Lindsay too. Jake Dalziel just class.

I'll phone the white house and see if Trump can have it overturned

Sandy Smith @theburghwatch.bsky.social · 07/07/2026

OBL attempted a tackle but was swung around as he let go cos the Japan player didnt have the ball and then as he was getting his balance another Japan player ran into him. He had no way to avoid it

Sandy Smith @theburghwatch.bsky.social · 07/07/2026

Thats possibly the most ridiculous YC that Blyth-Lafferty has just been given. The only way to have avoided that would have been not to actually have a head of his own

Sandy Smith @theburghwatch.bsky.social · 02/07/2026

Could be an important score for Scorland U20s there just before HT. NZ looking dangerous but Scotland definitely got the edge up front. OBL showing his pedigree

Sandy Smith @theburghwatch.bsky.social · 27/06/2026

Just said the same kn the other place. Overly fussy. That said Scoand doing their best in the 2nd half to throw it away

Sandy Smith @theburghwatch.bsky.social · 06/06/2026

I went Bulls by 5. As close as a couple of Pollard penalties.

Sandy Smith @theburghwatch.bsky.social · 16/04/2026

I agree with you. Also, who is it gets a job and then doesn't have to prove they were worth hiring?

A lucky 13

Not quite HT in Scotland V France yet Scotland have scored more points than France have conceded in their other games this 6N

Sandy Smith @theburghwatch.bsky.social · 14/02/2026

Lot been said this week about Scotland only turning up when we play England. Should we also be questioning why England frequently fail to turn up for these games?

What's lawn bowls like as a spectator sport cos rugby is shit

Sandy Smith @theburghwatch.bsky.social · 01/02/2026

It was very dramatic but on closer inspection there was enough claret for a transfusion to make it clear he wasn't at it

Sandy Smith @theburghwatch.bsky.social · 31/01/2026

Shit happens. I'm more inclined to put more of the blame on the Stranger Things type refereeing.

Sandy Smith @theburghwatch.bsky.social · 31/01/2026

Piardi's reffing of this game just bizarre

060

Sandy Smith @theburghwatch.bsky.social · 31/01/2026

I give him a hard time but that first half try v Leinster from Duhan has him on a half century of tries for Edinburgh. Just another 21 need to take the top spot from Tim Visser

I'm angry, not with players. They did their best. There will always be mistakes but we have been sold down the river by SRU/club Here's what I think is our list or our biggest defeats in Europeam rugby. 1. 1996 Dax 69 Edin 6 2.2020 Racing Edin 3 3. 2026 Bath 63 Edin 10 4. 1997 Newcastle 72 Edin 24

Thanks Leslie. Stranger things have happened. Not often though.

Sandy Smith @theburghwatch.bsky.social · 16/01/2026

No, I'm at the mercy of the elements

Sandy Smith @theburghwatch.bsky.social · 11/01/2026

Up our game? Forgive my cynicism but i'm not sure that amount of 'learnings' are possible in the time available.

Sandy Smith @theburghwatch.bsky.social · 08/01/2026

Hes been the nominal 10 replacement a few times whether thats been shifting from 12 or on the bench and has I think had to fulfil that role a couple of times but I can't mind when. Dont think hes ever started for us at 10

Sandy Smith @theburghwatch.bsky.social · 03/01/2026

There were handling and discipline errors for sure but it may be cliche but it's a hard place to go especially for Edinburgh. Douglas was good and has had good minutes in our last 4 games. No argument re Everitt

Sandy Smith @theburghwatch.bsky.social · 03/01/2026

A first away win of the season and a first win at Benetton since 2017. A brilliant if unexpected start to the year. A huge effort from the guys. Well done Edinburgh
