💩🥴 🐸 Lucky and I just did a radio interview on BBC Radio Wales and the best bit was that SHE DID HER FIRST POO (in her water bowl) when we were live! So exciting - not only is she eating, but it's going through too. Much relief all round! #frog #getlucky #thebugfarm

🦋 What a beauty! Clouded yellow butterfly on the Farm Trail today - the first we have seen for years ❤️. These butterflies migrate here from North Africa and southern Europe. Look at those lime green eyes and pink legs! #butterfly #butterflycount #bling #thebugfarm

The Bug Farm students and seasonal staff team had quite a catch in the moth trap this week! On that note - a belated welcome to Beth, Niamh, Freya and Alex and a big welcome back to Tabitha 🥰. Thanks to our lovely neighbour for alerting us to the very strange light in the field!

I had the time of my life at @thebugfarm.bsky.social today, making friends with a green bean stick insect and Madagascar hissing cockroach AND I saw a hummingbird hawk-moth for the first time among the wildflowers. So many wonderful bugs both inside and out. Living my best Animal Crossing life.

A very long Green Bean stick insect on my hand and wrist.

Day...week...year made! We have a nest of barn owl chicks! We are over the moon. These three chicks have been weighed (they're really heavy for their age) and ringed by ecologist Paddy Jenks. What a glorious picture of the whole family together. #barnowls #naturenetworks #thebugfarm

Have you ever heard of a tree lobster? Also know as Dryococelus australis. As it's National insect week, its worth remembering there are lots of marine insects too (kind of). Our friends over at @thebugfarm.bsky.social have lots of other cool stick insects you can see and more. #InsectWeek

I last spotted a green hairstreak butterfly on the road through the centre of Dowrog Common on a hot, sunny day in May in 2009. Yesterday, I spotted this beauty in exactly the same spot as my 2009 spot. 📸 Armando Rosario Lebron

Happy #nationalhedgerowweek. This was the first new hedge that we planted (with @pembscoast) at The Bug Farm in around 2014-2015. 10 years on and it is now taller than me - at least 10-foot high in most places .

Digging! The oil beetles are out and about at The Bug Farm! Keep your eyes open for them on the paths...not sure that digging your burrow on a well-trodden path (used as a racetrack by a blind dog) is the most sensible evolutionary strategy! #mindyourstep #beetles #oilbeetles #TheBugFarm

Who thinks that jumping spiders are just the cutest?! This little dude was hanging out in the Walled Garden yesterday. It's always worth having a look at what is wandering around on stone walls, especially if they are held together with lime mortar - loads of bugs call them home. 📸 Andy Holcroft

We have 4.5(!) ponds on our Farm Trail, bursting with life. The gorgeous mural in our wildlife watching hide, by @nikki_pontin, displays some of the species that we find in them *4.5, as one is 'ephemeral' and dries up in the summer, providing a great site for rare mosses.
