Somebody tag that student writing about scent in literature! I'm team (insert students name) btw, practically hyperventilating waiting to hear about it. I'm so interested that I'm reading (and thus found this quote) The Primary Colors three essays of Alexander Theroux. Also,

A quotation on an otherwise blank page from a novel. The quote reads, "It is strange how deeply colors seem to penetrate one, like scent."
--Dorothea Brooke in George
Eliot's Middlemarch

Nikki Giovanni died here is an example of her poetry, if you're unaware she was a genius, beloved, and important!

Screenshot of the poem 'And I Have You,' by Nikki Giovanni.

And I Have You

Rain has drops
Sun has shine
Moon has beams
That make you mine

Rivers have banks
Sands for shores
Hearts have heartbeats
That make me yours

Needles have eyes
Though pins may prick
Elmer's has glue
To make things stick

Winter has Spring
Stockings feet
Pepper has mint
To make it sweet

Teachers have lessons
Soup de jour
Lawyers sue bad folks
Doctors cure

All in all
This much is true
You have me
And I have you

It's a brand of tennis/gym shoe! These were my pair, and the ones I emulated in my costume. I think they were called that bc of the side pockets

Let's talk bookshelves! @selfmadefailure.bsky.social & I finally organized (some) of our shelves enough to share

A chaotic bookshelf full of books, which if paying close attention is loosely separated by category fiction/nonfiction/plays/&poetry

It's so strange going back to old little doodles and paintings, etc from when I was healthier. I'm not a great communicator and art makes me feel like I can express what I can't say. I really hope to get back to a baseline where I can paint, at least. Here's a little drawing

A large mouth in the foreground and the mid features a turtle siding a skateboard on the tongue. A hand holding an eye and a flower drips water into a cup with a goldfish in it (also on the turtle's skateboard). There's another turtle and 'rays' of color in the background.

So I'm gonna share stuff from my brief stint trying to teach myself to paint. Here's an acrylic painting I did. Was thinking about fossil fuels, ubiquitous cars, etc

I was trying to make a cover for my poetry collection, but I learned digital art is not for me! 😆 Anyway, I kind of like the idea I had here, if not really, the execution. Think I'll leave krita to the digital artists 🎨👩‍🎨
