So initially I started writing a service mesh (for fun), then everyone started talking about AI workloads. So here we are, a transparent gateway that can be applied to running workloads (no restart) that allows control between agents/workloads and an LLM. kube-gateway.io

heh, eBPF is controlling your AI 🐝

Existing AI workloads? A few annotations and I can now transparently change their behaviour, swap out models in their API calls and more. (Thanks to #eBPF)

Re-found the virtual machine manager project for Kubernetes from last year, this example has BeOS inside a kubernetes cluster ssh-ing out to the control plane to manage itself 😂. No CNI needed either thanks to eBPF.

Regardless of what the AI client is (GO, Python etc...) we can now ensure we jump in to the "existing" data path and manipulate any of the data in either direction 😀
Two pods using different SDKs and languages (GO/Pyton) to access AI backends, both being intercepted and sent to the kube-gateway proxy transparently.

Using eBPF 🐝 and some proxy magic 🪄 to change the model on the fly transparently to the AI workload. We can see the first responses from llama and subsequent ones from gemma (more emojis).

Two pods with their traffic being proxied (thx eBPF 🐝) through a gateway, one using kTLS and the other user-land TLS. 🔐

Excellent afternoon talking about Kubernetes networking and Virtualisation on Kubernetes.
Stood on stage about to start talking about network design Talking about technical debt when migrating workloads.

Been wanting to play with in kernel (kTLS) for a while, my mTLS proxy for encrypted pods now moves all encryption into the kernel 🤩

Finally managed to get IPv6 egress re-implemented using the go nftables pkg (uses syscalls) in kube-vip. 🐙

There's a lot of kube-vip.io deployments out there 🤩

Getting very close (github.com/kube-vip/kub...) Kube-vip.io can now egress pods through a service IP providing stable addresses, without the need for a bunch of external tools in the pod 🥹

Excited for the rebound.cc gravel ride in a few weeks time, going to ride up to the Emley moor mast which is the tallest tower in the UK. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emley_M...) 🚵🏼‍♂️

With @kubernetes.io v1.33 I can easily apply a ephemeral container that intercepts traffic (with eBPF 🐝) and transparently encrypts it between pods. Doesn't show up as a container, so does that mean it isn't a sidecar 🤔

Banging my head against packet alignment, between the kvm nic and the tap nic on the other side 🫠
Traffic entering and leaving the virtual machine isn't aligning correctly meaning either the VM or the host kernel doesn't understand the frame.
