Kim at 1'48" in a biggish group with lots of people who aren't going to give her any assistance at all. If she was going to get back in, she had to go with Mavi who was with her two laps ago. Kind of sums up her year, but at least she's on the bike and wasn't hurt in that pile up.

Mavi has made it back to the lead group. Very impressive stuff.

Kim at 1'35" behind the main group, so she's lost another 15 seconds or so on that lap. Sarah Gigante might still make it back in, she's around 30 seconds behind the favourites (not that she's winning a race on a course with technical descents).

On a happier note, it's great to see long time favourite of mine Lauren Stephens back in the WC peloton after a year primarily riding gravel.

The one hope for Kim is that Mavi Garcia is also with her and might be keen to chase back with Blasi out of the race. Remember Mavi helped pace AvV back into the lead group in Glasgow after Annemiek had a mechanical.

All of last year's medallists are off the back now

KLC over a minute down, and not with a lot of powerful help in her group. Hard to see her coming back from that sadly

It's a completely ridiculous move, I'm afraid. I guess she thinks she'll be the GC rider if Anna calls it a day again after next season.

Remarkable first split times. What's happened to Reusser? And even more, what's happened to Vollering?

Not sure Boardman is a lot better. At least Dani C is on TNT.

Why have we got Carlton Kirby commentating on the women's ITT? Where's Marty MacD?

Oh Cedrine what have you done?

Fantastic to hear that Sarah Gigante's contract at AG Insurance has been extended for another year to 2027. After her horrible, injury blighted last 12 months, this is a real show of faith in her by the team. And we all know she absolutely loves it there. Brilliant stuff.

His stride (minimum 2.11 yesterday) suggests that 12f is about right - perhaps ideally at a more galloping track like Newbury or Ascot. Given how thin the staying ranks look now though without Trawlerman and Sweet William, I can see the temptation to try up to 2 miles.

It was brilliant. The funniest thing was that the organisers couldn't wait to get Kopecky and Wiebes (the actual GC and stage winners) off the podium so they could do their big retirement tribute for AvV.

It’s a TT course. If organisers can’t secure a TT course we might as well give up

It’s totally weird. You see virtually nothing at a race as compared to watching on TV, but the experience of being there is amazing. And sometimes you get a massive bonus, like the selfie I got with AvV after her final race in Arnhem in 2023. Couldn’t have missed that!

Ah yes, Hill and Aguero, familiar names from the Oakland Athletics tax handout fiasco

Very relived to see that Kim Le Court has just completed a ride on Strava today. Absolutely no news that I could find over the weekend on her condition after her crash at Plouay (and still none on Amandine Fouquenet). Updates from the team would have been appreciated.

KLC must have run over a black cat while cycling under a ladder at some point this year
010
Dave @thebromleya.bsky.social · 26/08/2026
She's a terrific signing. I'm going to hope that she's essentially replacing Ash Moolman who retires at the end of the year. But there is no news yet on a contract at AG Insurance next year for Sarah Gigante (and much as I love her, announcing Alex Manly's extension before Sarah's is a bit odd)

He did make all in the Derby so it’s not as though this is a new running style for him but it seems as if he’s now racing for the benefit of his stablemates. The same trick Ballydoyle pulled with Continuous. I expect he and Action will go charging off with BC & MH both being very strong stayers

I did wonder a couple of decades ago when all the top 3yo’s vanished to stud (hello Generous, Nashwan, Dancing Brave etc) if we should bin WFA and be done with it. Then you’d need an exceptional 3yo to win an Eclipse or a KG/QE (or a Falmouth). It would help the people who just don’t get WFA too

Obviously I know much less than Charlie Appleby, but I do wonder if he has overlooked the filly in his stable who is crying out for a race over 12 furlongs, but who was pitched into a sharp US track firm ground 9 furlong event last time and was never sighted www.racingpost.com/news/raceday...

Charlie Appleby's July festival record is outstanding - but can it paper over a worrying couple of months for the stable?

They have basically said as much, even if horses that go well on the AW are usually fine on fast ground (and it was pretty quick by jumping standards when he won the Supreme)
000
Dave @thebromleya.bsky.social · 07/07/2026
The potential for fast ground was always going to be an issue, leaving aside the third run being needed to qualify. What about the Winter Hill or the August at Windsor next? We know he’s ok on tight tracks and in either direction. Going permitting of course.

He was clearly not ridden to obtain the best possible result (unless obtaining the best possible result for Jan Breughel counts)

I wonder if that means that they have never had a BAME leader because they are a bit racist? The Tories rarely seem remotely progressive but at least on this score they look better than Labour

Dave @thebromleya.bsky.social · 25/05/2026
Maybe they can do a Gstaad and supplement her back in?
100
Dave @thebromleya.bsky.social · 25/05/2026
What an insane thing to do. She clearly is going to be ideally suited by 12 furlongs. I didn't see anything at Newmarket in the Dip to suggest that she wouldn't handle Epsom. The (apparent) plan to run her in the Coronation at Royal Ascot looks nonsensical.
200
Dave @thebromleya.bsky.social · 25/05/2026
She won’t win the Oaks. Abashiri (min stride 2.17 at the Curran, 2.16 at Newmarket) will - if they actually run her.

Gigante too. Tayler Wiles. What baffles me is how long it seems to take to make the diagnosis. As soon as any rider starts to struggle with power, this is the first condition to consider. It took months to diagnose for both Sarah and Tayler.

Nice to see the fab Gaia Masetti in the break at La Vuelta. I rarely question anything AG Insurance do, and their U23 Cubs are a terrific bunch, but I wish Gaia was still with the team.

Ooh, Franzi holding on to the GC lead. All very tight at the top though. Looking ahead to the weekend, Ashleigh looked pretty good on the climbs today.

What a superb finish from Cedrine. It was so obvious that she was going to do that, I wonder why I didn't expect it. I assume she's in red now too with the bonus unless Lotte has snuck in with her 6 bonus seconds.

Speaking as a huge KLC fan, it's been wall to wall misery! But seeing Chabbey and Koch get their big days after race upon race of selfless support for Vollering has to be the highlight. Strade was particular fun. Oh, and Wout winning Paris Roubaix!

Dave @thebromleya.bsky.social · 26/04/2026
One good thing is yet another impressive effort from Lore De Schepper for AG Insurance in the PFP group. Although hard to beat Holmgren's effort if you want to praise a young up and coming rider.

Dave @thebromleya.bsky.social · 26/04/2026
This is seriously impressive, but this race was much more fun last year

Dave @thebromleya.bsky.social · 13/04/2026
Calling Franzi Koch the signing of the season doesn’t do her justice. Hard to think of a better signing outside of absolute superstars in the last decade.

Dave @thebromleya.bsky.social · 11/04/2026
If the men's and women's Paris Roubaix have to be on the same day for 'security' reasons or whatever, then why don't the women race first? Then we can see all the women's race and join the men after the dull first 70 km or so before the first pave with 4 hours still to ride.

Best race of the year. Particularly having ridden some of the climbs myself (Koppenberg, Kruisberg-Hotond, Oude Kwaremont, Paterberg). Although ‘ridden’ is a bit of an exaggeration for most of them!

I’m hoping for some Cedrine fireworks at MSR - was a bit disappointed not to see one of her nuclear descents down the Poggio last year.

My usual mixture of excitement and nervousness about my favourites. But particularly looking forward to the Kim / Leti combination in the classics (esp Paris Roubaix) for AG Insurance. And Sarah G on Mont Ventoux!

Oh do stop it. It’s a bit of fun for those of us who love lists and who still compile our own charts (at 62). It’s not AI trying to brainwash us. My top 5 songs of the year includes both death metal and Nina Nesbitt, so nobody is genre pigeonholing me.
