We love cornflowers for their electric blue hue and their resilience as a classic symbol of the countryside. We love them because they are easy to grow, thrive in poor soil, and provide a rich nectar source for bees and butterflies. And to top it all off - they're edible! Did we missed anything? 💙

The volunteers have been busy in the vegetable beds, and the results speak for themselves. Fresh compost has been laid down to feed the soil, and we’re already harvesting some wonderful produce. It’s a great example of how community spirit helps the garden thrive - and we're grateful for it! 🌱

Was fortunate to attend #RHSChelsea today and impressed, as we produce and use it at @thebaytrust.bsky.social #PinesGarden, that #biochar is also an “ingredient” in the @asthmaandlung.org.uk Breathing Space garden (which will be relocating to #Rotherham in due course.) One show highlight for me.

Last autumn, our garden team prepped the #GenerationRestoration mini-meadow area by mulching with waste wood chip. This space in Pines Garden is specifically designed to model how simple, regenerative actions can be adapted for any garden. Next step: sowing a wildflower mini meadow! 🐝🌱🌸
