#WIPSnips #Booksky 🧡🦄📚 Got one here from Mother of Machines chapter 9! Anxiety is a real pain in the ass

"I'll be fine, dear."
Ze looks at me with distrust. "If you say so."
The line moves a bit quicker than expected, placing us before the guards before I can think of a way to eviscerate them without witnesses. Lavinia shows them zer tablet, and they wave us through after a simple scan. My shoulders relax once again as we make our
way towards the ship, the sheer simplicity of the situation making me want to laugh. I'm not quite sure why I was even worried in the first place. Logic seemed to escape every reasoning I gave myself, even leading me to mistrust my sweet child who has done nothing wrong in zer life. Do humans truly have to deal with feelings like this on a daily basis? I wonder how they cope with irrational conclusions plaguing their minds.

Third is Better Angels: Genesis by Abigail Gloom! If you’re like me and love a healthy dose of violence and blasphemy, you gotta check this one out sooner rather than later. This isn’t the first of Abigail’s works that has latched itself into my subconscious, and I’m confident it won’t be the last 😎

Better Angels: Genesis by Abigail Gloom.

The title is at the top center and the author’s name is at the bottom center of the image.

Cover photo is art of literal Jesus Christ with a sun behind his head. A pink haired angel with a somber look, full plated armor, glowing yellow-white wings, and a sword in her hands is front and center.

Second is A Weed in the Flowerbeds! This one took my brain, chewed it up, and spat the remains out onto the dirt. I’m sure I’m not the only one that fell in love with Adrastus’s character here, but even beyond that there’s the prose because Callisto is what I would call a lexical wizard (read it!!!)

Cover for A Weed im the Flowerbeds by Callisto Khan.

The title is in the center and the wonderful author’s name is in the top right corner of the image.

The cover photo is art of various trees and foliage backlit by sunlight.

First off is From the Inside! There’s 10 short stories packed into this one, and I love each and every one for so many reasons I could talk forever about them (I won’t in this thread, but perhaps a future one👀) There’s so much hotness, plenty of sweet, and a generous helping of fucked up :3

"Honey, you don't have to ask me for permission to be yourself. In fact, never ask anyone for permission to be yourself again. It is your birthright, and no one can take that from you no matter what they might have to say about it. So why don't you tell me whether you're allowed to or not. What do you want, little Sapling?"

From Mother of Machines! (I couldn’t pick a fave so I just picked a cool one)

The sudden heaviness of having to split my attention to everything makes me wanna puke. Every strike feels like a supernova, each parry and counter taking nearly all I can give. I feel a second cannon finished, but it isn't enough. Determination burns like wildfire and threatens to consume me, eating through my sanity like a noxious acid.

The pain is blinding, but the hunt is sobering.

Each heavy impact brings clarity to my mind. Why should it burn when I use my own body? Why should the very thing I live for be a struggle? Pain is an experience of the weak, and I am anything but. A new flame bursts forth, one far more suited to my tastes.
The third cannon is completed, which means it is now a race against time. A race to see who will hunt first, a race to claim the right to paint the coliseum with enemy blood. A race I have no intention of losing.
