This week, we find out what Nyx and Keria had planned—and how they're going to deal with having their plan completely undone. Check out "Best Laid" on my website. theashleyrebel.com/best-laid/ #indie #horrorwriter #darkfantasy

Best Laid – You know the saying. The best laid plans of mice and men often go astray. But what about the chaotic, improvised plans of lesbian vampire hunters? Backed into a corner, Nyx and Keria recalibrate.

You don't have to forgive. You can choose to withhold forgiveness. That choice is just as valid, and (critically) just as healthy. What matters is that you MAKE A CHOICE. www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti... #forgiveness #takethepowerback #traumahealing #healingjourney

A badass looking woman with black horns and black wings with the text, "Become the villain you were always meant to be."

Part of what led me to paganism and writing horror was a desire for authenticity. I didn't wanna play the part of the good girl anymore. I'm dark and light. Pick your poison. I promise, you'll get the version of me you deserve. #indie #witchsky #horrorwriter #traumahealing

I'm a haven from the chaos and an unending hex. The side you experience depends on you.

Nope. I can't imagine an honest, dignified man doing something so pathetically manipulative.

You didn't actually expect Nyx and Keria to kill a castle full of vampires without any complications, did you? 🤣 theashleyrebel.com/caught/ #indie #horrorwriter #darkfantasy

Caught – The time has finally come. Nyx and Keria make their way into the castle without incident. However, once inside, one of the vamps gets the drop on them while they prep for the next step.

I've been writing horror for years. I'm not afraid to go dark in fiction. But in my life? People pleasing. Codependence. Fawning. A network of relationships built around trauma response. Now I'm healing. The villain era is here, baby. Buckle up. #indie #healingjourney #boundaries #traumahealing

I'm finally becoming the unholy terror I was always meant to be.

This was was especially fun to write. I love that we got a glimpse into Nyx and Keria's past. Read "Final Prep" to discover what happens just before the two-woman assault on the castle starts. theashleyrebel.com/final-prep/

Final Prep

This job is a weird one, and not just because vamps are involved. Keria considers the client’s requirements and reminisces about past contracts during the final moments before the infiltration.

I normally post new content on Fridays, both on my website and on Patreon. But this week, I'm participating in the nationwide shutdown in protest of ICE. As a result, my stuff will post one day late, on Saturday.

I found what I love—writing horror and dark fantasy. I even found how I love doing it. Being an indie writer adds so much to the process. #indie #horrorwriter #darkfantasy

When you find what you love doing, go all in.
