Castlevania: Lords of Shadow was released 16 years ago! The release took the series in a divisive new direction as a 3D hack-and-slash adventure, but it gave the artists a lot to work on. Their concepts and designs were later shared for the trilogy in The Art of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow.

It's always worth highlighting that just because a game isn't well received, doesn't mean that the artwork behind it can't be fantastic. The Art of Anthem showcases this point, because the concepts from the team are awesome!

I agree, often the packaging is pretty good, the books have a bit of breathing room, so any knocks leaves them untouched, but this one was squeezed in and taped. It didn't stand much of a chance, but a new copy is being sent out today!

I've never used Lulu, but it's good to hear they have been helpful

010

The Artbook Collector @theartbookguy.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

There was a hole in the packaging on this exact spot, but it takes a good amount of force to shred the cover like that, as opposed to just denting it!

110

The Artbook Collector @theartbookguy.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

That's great! Who was the company? I have a bunch with corners like that, but as long as it doesn't crease the pages, I can deal with it (begrudgingly). I'd replace them if it was rare, but it can happen a lot and it would look like a scam if I wanted so many replaced!

100

The Artbook Collector @theartbookguy.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

Ugh, that first one physically hurts to see! Separation like that is brutal

110

The Artbook Collector @theartbookguy.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

It sadly happens from time to time 😕 the company has been good in the past with refunds/ replacements, but this was done by Royal Mail, not an issue prior to delivery, so I'm hoping they will still be able to help 🤞

100

The Artbook Collector @theartbookguy.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

Every collector's nightmare just happened... a damaged delivery 😩 I was planning to sit with The Art and Making of Gears of War: E-Day this weekend, but it's unlikely I will get a replacement before its release on the 6th. This always sucks!
