The use of Dwādasāṁśa and the Hellenistic 12th parts differs but understanding both can significantly enhance our chart readings and provide really important insights. I started off the Vargas/Divisional charts section in the 1-year Diploma class and had a productive discussion about several charts.

My yr-2 Jyotiṣā course will be ready before August, and I’ll start teaching from 2027. Focus will be on ShadBala (advanced planetary strengths), Ashtakavarga (point based strength analysis used for transits) and Vimsottari Daṣā levels 4&5. I am writing 3rd yr, followed by which I’ll write the 4th.

In Indic astrology, the lunar nodes are part of the "Navagraha" system of 9 classical planets. Even though they are referred to as 'Chhaya graha" or shadow planets, they are still multivalent in their symbolism. 1/

Time-lord systems supersede transits. Yet in Jyotiṣa, when working with the deeper levels (like 4th or 5th) of Vimśottari Daśā, the transits of planets must be studied carefully and without Aṣṭakavarga, one would largely be guessing about the strength and effectiveness of a transit.

The Moon in Aries receives the rays of Venus in Virgo through Mercury in Cancer. Mercury serves as an intermediary, transmitting the light of Venus to the Moon. In Hellenistic astrology, this is “transmission of light/rays”, rather than the modern quincunx.

There is a reference in Mahabharata saying that—when Rohini is afflicted, destruction to humanity occurs. Mars square Rohini and Saturn sextile Rohini. Rohini had been on the bending for a while.

Spear bearing is not a guarantee for eminence, but a condition that could lead to eminence if the bodies involved are not afflicted/maltreated. Spear bearing in traditional Hellenistic and Persian astrology is similar in assessment to Yogas in Jyotisa.
